Well, this bum is certainly getting what he wants, which is nothing more than attention. He must have been neglected as a child.

Anyway, I don't even believe he is who he says he is. Working on big finance deals eh? Yet when he mentioned the state of the Koran economy he got seriously taken down by Sparx who really does have experience in that area. Who ever he is he's difinitely a bitter and dissatisfied man who was probably a major nerd at school, and even now finds it hard to get laid. Guys who come in as a newbie and decide to take on the whole board reek of just one thing, small peepee syndrome.

I would have to agree with ky-boy on the fact that horseman is just getting what he wants and the fact that there is more chance of him being a big time businessman then there is of Osama Bin Laden winning the US presidency. Laughing

Thanks for your comment.

Their level of English would be low from your point of view, mainly because they do not speak or write at a native level. Even if their English is not at a native or even a fluent level, the level of English for Korean employees is sufficient to carry out their duties. As each year passes, the level of English of Korean employees continues to improve. As a result, Kiwis long-term ambition to become a translator/editor fades away as he begins to grasp the reality of the situation.

No it's not.

Yeah you're right, very very slowly.

Don't even mention the word "reality", it's an insult to anyone who has ever had even a vague understanding of the concept.

Face it big boy, I'm happy and you hate it.

Maneatinghorse:

Do me a favour. Walk into the ESL section of any Korean bookstore in Korea, and examine a few of the textbooks written by Koreans. Chances are, you will find these books rife with errors. For further enlightenment, invite a randomly chosen bunch of Korean ESL teachers out for drinks with you one night. See how many of them can speak English at a level on par with a native. Five'll get ya ten, there won't be many. If further proof is required, make friends with an ESL student and ask her to give you detailed accounts of her teacher's lessons.

No disrespect intended here. It's not their native tongue, so of course we shouldn't expect perfection. And Korean ESL teachers play a vital role, in terms of explaining concepts to students in the language they understand. But if trained English teachers can't speak English accurately, what do you think the average businessman is like? And in the business world, accuracy is critical. Someone who can't distinguish between "I graduated from Seoul University in July" and "I am graduating from Seoul Univeristy in July" should not be writing his own cover letters for a job interview in English, however better his grasp of the language might be than that of the average Korean twenty years ago. If Kiwiboy can get his Korean up to speed, I'm sure there'll be ample opportunities for him as a translator or editor in the near future.

You are willing to argue that their English abilities are improving without offering any evidence which suggests this improvement is as fast as you claim it is. You also claim that Westerners have very limited Korean language skills without offering any evidence. How on earth did you do so well academically when you can't even argue with "trashy" esl teachers? I can only assume that you have lied about your background in a bid to give your opinions more credibility. Well contrary to your belief, that sort of arguement won't get you anywhere on this board. There are some bloody intelligent people who post here. Don't delude yourself into thinking your grade 6 level debating style can go unchallenged by posters on this board. Moron.

Most ESL teachers Ive met are certainly not doing their jobs properly. I suppose this includes you as well.

I doubt you've even met any ESL teachers, let alone gone into thier classes and observed them.

ESL language school market (In Korea, Australia and NZ) is already saturated, and many schools have or are closing down. On that basis, you will have a tough time setting up a successful ABC business. Furthermore, you have no business background or experience and no guarantee that you have a talent for business. Those with the qualities that I have mentioned run the language schools that do well. So much for your business dreams chump.

Luck my best buddy is the CEO of New Zealand's fastest growing small business and is worth millions. I'm sure he'll have some good strategy advice for me, and maybe even some finance.
Quote:

Writing course materials?? Good for you son! Another bad set of course materials for the Korean ESL students and another bunch of ESL teachers brainwashed by your racist attitudes towards Korean men.

If they were done be me they'd be superb of course, because unlike you I actually know something about language and teaching.
Quote:

Is this what an educator is supposed to sound like? Is that what your going to say to students who you dont like? Some educator you are.

Well I'm educating you aren't I!

You don't sound too much like a high finance dude when you post on here either.

Would this be an appropriate place for me to point out that you have not written anything that actually makes sense for about 6 pages?

Am I supposed to post links supporting my claims? Well Kiwiboy and you certainly haven't offered any solid evidence, except for your own personal experiences.
