So my scene is "old-school hiphop, funk, disco"

I would like to ask for others' opinions on where to go to get my groove on and listen to some clean beats.

I'm not looking for a place that occasionally plays throwbacks or a place that plays Top40. Lil' Wayne? No thank you. I've been to places like Helios, NB, Monkey Beach, those are not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for pure hiphop, NOT top40. I've compiled a short list of the places I've been and liked... hoping for other people to add to it.

Venue, Itaewon: Used to love their Fridays, but management is slippin' and the place just doesn't have the energy it did a year ago.

BoomBAR, Itaewon: Nice classy lounge, hefty 20,000 cover, hit or miss

Union, Itaewon: DOPE music, tiny place... closed until further notice

Cake Shop, Itaewon: not always hiphop, a bit too loud, kinda dumpy

Soul Train, Itaewon: just saw this tiny bar... anyone know anything? looks fun... looks like it just opened this year

Brown, Sinchon: Same owner/feel as venue but bigger, they charge cover... would never pay cover to go to a place like this

If you think Q-tip is just a cotton swab... please don't bother to add to this list.

Thanks... hope to hear about some good places.

The owner (former owner) of Union and his crew are now part of the company that owns some of the nicest venues in Korea including Prost, Glam, Mute, Between, and B One which will be moving/upgrading the first weekend in February.

The new B One will be where Limelight/Hard Rock Cafe used to be and has a second DJ station/section that his crew will operate on weekends. It won't always be hip hop, but they will have nights dedicated to the same styles they played at Union. You can count on it being quality.

You can join their facebook page to stay up on the events and guest DJs they'll be bringing in. The place is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick and will blow just about every other venue in the city away in terms of size, style, and music. Mark your calendar.
