Korean Laborers Make More than Those in Hong Kong, Taiwan
The monthly average income of Korean laborers last year was 1.2 to 1.5 times higher than competing countries Hong Kong and Taiwan. The wage increase rate in Korea for the past three years was 22 percent, much higher than Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, which recorded where less than 4 percent increases. Such monthly average pay is 1.5 times higher than the Taiwanese average, which is US$1,222, 1.2 times higher than Hong Kong, where the average is US$1,596, and is similar to Singapore, where the average is US$1,845.
