I've read that backcountry backpacking is not allowed at any of the national parks in Korea. Is there anywhere in the country where it is allowed? |

There not a whole lot OF backcountry--the national parks are all ringed with road and little villages that back up into the valleys.
And you've heard right, camping is not allowed in the parks.
That said, I know people who have camped in Seorak and Chiak parks. The thing is to hike all day and then get off the trail, pitch camp in the dark, and get up before the morning hikers arrive (leaving nothing behind, of course...). |
