I had a vasectomy this morning, but the urologist prescribed amoxicillin, which is actually a semi-synthetic form of penicillin, which for me would be lethal.
I brought a bottle of doxycycline with me from the USA, but I'd like to check with a pharmacist or two to see if it's safe to take alongside Loxoprofen, the other medicine the doctor prescribed.
Due to the surgery, I don't want to get out of bed and travel if they're all closed.
Do your due diligence when it comes to prescription medications, guys, before you take anything here. |

I guess I'll stay home and take the 100 mg doxcycline hyclate pills that I brought from the USA and use Tylenol PM instead of the Loxoprofen.
This is an example of why people who are intensely allergic to penicillin class drugs or any other types of medicine should bring along an alternative they know they can take. And it's very important to research any prescription from Korean doctors before taking the first pill, no matter how many times you mentioned drug allergies. If I had taken the pills yesterday following the vasectomy (and I was very tempted due to the pain), the 500 mg horsepill of amoxicillin would have probably killed me right there in front of the little kids in my first period class. |

Drug allergies are scary stuff.

The one near my place is open, so I'm guessing that many will be. Feel better soon!
I had a doctor give me a whole bunch of meds a few months ago. It turned out that one was an antibiotic. By researching on the internet, I was able to figure out what every pill but the two white ones were, and one was for heartburn and one was an antibiotic, so I didn't take either. Why was I upset? Because I am on birth control, and many antibiotics make it ineffective. It wasn't an ailment that required antibiotics, either. Ugh. This was the one time I needed to see a doctor who wasn't my GP for a non-dermatological ailment. I told my GP (he practiced in the states for years) about it during my next visit, and he wasn't surprised, though he was annoyed. |
