I'm staying at a new block called Excellent Vill which is designed mostly for foreigners. My studio has a double bed, TV, fridge, desk and bookcase, free 24 hour internet access (I have a laptop), kitchenette, and toliet/shower room. I also have free use of the laundry. It's also quiet. All this is only $650 dollars a month inclusive. That works out at just $21.66 dollars (£12) a day. It's also only 5mins from Yeongdeungpo Gu Office subway with a late shop opposite. Only snag is there's no phone and the TV is not cable, but it's still a bargain if you want something for a couple of weeks or longer term:-

So you're advertising a Homestay are you? Not for all the tea in China mate. My own place will do and it's cheaper than a Yeogwan or hostel. Clean, quiet and the internet is free plus a mobile phone is just as cheap. By he way it's not an ad (unlike yours).

The rooms look nice. Sure beats paying key money for a place.
Who needs a phone. Just get a handphone.
Those would be good for a 2-person situation. Split half and half with a sig other.
5 million won key money divided by 12 months is 400,000/mo. Add rent and you got about the same price to stay there.
Wonder if you can get cable hooked up. That's a major drawback.
Do they have air conditioning or storage? Maid service?

The rooms have air-con but maid service is not really required as it's easy to keep the place clean. There is an office (english speaking) if you have any problems. I don;t think cable is an option but it doesn't bother me (you can always ask for long term). If you plan on staying for a year you could negotiate it even cheaper. What are you paying for your phone? Because I don't have id card at present I will need to purchase a cheap phone but the call charges are high apparently? Any advice appreciated. |

I've heard of Korean friends helping foreigners with their handphones if they are not yet registered.
The Korean simply signs the paperwork and you get a phone.
Do the pay-as-you-go route.
Monthly subsriptions may be more expensive for foreigners. I'm not sure as I don't have experience with a handphone subscription in Korea.
