almost all korean credit cards ask who your employer is. unlike in other countries where only your own personal information is relevant, korean cc companies and banks like to know your position (rank, etc.) in your company and how much your company is worth. so if you want to get a good credit card here it can be prudent to have the company/school you work for help you.
that said, in my personal experience, getting an asiana card via shinhan was a bit of a hassle and their starting limit was pretty laughable, but getting a red card with a massive limit through hyundai card was actually fairly easy. so i second chrisinkorea sentiments about hyundai card. |

thats weird... The KEB here in daejeon Automatically gave me a Global check card with the Visa logo on it... I didn thave to ask for it..
I wonder if its because you asked for a visa check card maybe they thought you were asking for a credit card.... The Global card works for buying stuff online on korean websites like gmarket and what not..
I also have a proper KEB credit card without having to deposit any money. THey let me pick the credit card I wanted. I Picked the KEB Juliet Homeplus credit card that gives me discounts at homeplus. Works everywhere. Bought things online from american websites, used it back home no problems... |
