Alright TV pros.

What is the best bang for the buck for under a million won here?

I'm thinking I want a 42" minimum. Are those Samsung Smart TVs worth going for a slightly smaller screen for?

LotteMart has an extensive selection of TVs for under a million, but I have no idea where to start looking.

I recommend GMarket's website. Head over there and search on TIVA .You can get a 42" one for 500K. It isn't a smart TV but it's a smart buy. I have the 4200D model and it also has a USB input on it so I can watch movies on my external HD. I love it.

BTW, it arrived within 2 days after ordering it and I live in the sticks. If you are in Seoul it will probably come the next day. The one big concern is not having a store you can return it to should something go wrong.

If you have your heart set on a smart TV GMarket is still worth checking out for prices.

Most certainly NOT worth a smart TV here, unless you like Korean TV shows. Internet on them is uncomfortable.

Alright, so I've found two comparable TVs.

One is an LG, the other a Samsung.

With out going into detailed specifications and the like, which one would you say is better based on picture alone?

I remember someone having a Samsung and the picture was so clear watching a show that it seemed almost like a soap opera. Was this just a typically good HDTV that would be similar of an LG, or does Samsung just have a better picture overall?

Also, it seems that I'll be stuck getting a 3D TV regardless of the brand I choose.

Any pros/cons for either brand?

You pay premium for the Samsung "name" in Korea. Go with the LG. They look better overall. Or buy an off-brand that is perfectly functional and two thirds the price of a comparable LG or Samsung. Skymedia's are alright TVs. You can get a 42 incher for around 500'000원.

As someone who has owned 3 LG flatscreens and 2 Samsungs, I encourage you to consider each set individually. Sound is important, too.

Leaning heavily on getting the LG 47LM58005. basically a 47inch 3D deal.

Anyone have any pros/cons about this model or know of a site youd trust that rates TVs??

Opinion seems split on whether LG or Samsung is better..

Although, I do have a Samsung phone and tablet, so is it worth sticking with the brand for any specific features?

I personally will never buy a LG again. My last one with them was an 42LK450 model. The screen needed to be replaced about every 6 months. Dust kept sandwiching itself between the front glass and LCD screen. It would create dark splotches as a result. There was nothing they could do but keep switching out screens, We were advised to keep it covered with a sheet when not in use. Great warranty though and the service technicians were well trained.

It's funny reading your posts though because all of us TV shoppers seem to go through the same manic states. First you check out what there is and ask for advice. Then you are still undecided so you pick and choose advice that corresponds to your own hunches on what to get. You will likely be getting that LG BTW because only your own opinion matters in the end.
