This is disgusting. You can find something like this happening anywhere. I read a story in the Huffington Post about a 6 month old baby who was raped by a man while his girlfriend, the baby's mother, slept in the next room. The baby died. There was also a story about a group of boys in a town somewhere in the NE United States who gang raped a mentally challenged girl, and the school did nothing about it. They tried to cover it up.
I do wonder about this world. |

it doesnt surprise me.
people have so much stress here. coupled that with a mental health problem that has developed and subsequently been ignored = you've got some unfortunate events going on.
what surprises me is that we don't hear more stories like this in the news (only people offing themselves).
i can only assume that either the victims/ victims families of sexual/physical abuse aren't reporting it or else the media arent reporting what they find.
anyway, sad story... |

To be fair, this kind of thing happens all over the world including in our countries. I don't think this has much to do with Korea apart from the fact that there is less awareness of child abuse, and other issues like rape and the right to say no in Korea.
Walk anywhere in Korea and you'll see dirty old men eyeing children playing and saying/doing inappropriate things but whereas in our countries we'd call the police, it doesn't happen in Korea. Teenage boys hanging out with younger children is also something you see more of in Korea.
But whether you want to accept this or not, there are people who are born psychotic, anti social, with psychopathic, violent, sexually predatory tendencies. These issues do have something to do with environment but sadly some offenders are born that way. |

it isnt a debate (except in a classroom during your first ever semester at university).
After that, people usually start using science and evidence to discuss things. |

"Genetic factors may generally influence the development of psychopathy while environmental factors affect the specific traits that predominate.
A study on a large group of children found more than 60% heritability for "callous-unemotional traits" and that conduct problems among children with these traits had a higher heritability than among children without these traits"

yeah, need to check the references on wiki before quoting it.
studies have mostly drawn the conclusion that regardless of genetic factors, it is environmental stressors that trigger psychosis.
if you have have a generic propensity toward being over weight, it is over eating that will eventually make you obese, not your genes.
having worked in psychiatric services for 10 odd years before coming here, i dont think i ever worked with a case that hadnt had a trigger of either overuse of illicit substances or been the victim of sexual/physical abuse themselves. behaviours are usually perpetuated within the home environment.
however, it would be very easy to be a doctor if you could just say
' hey why is he psychotic?'
' i think he was just born like that'
'ah, ok. no need to look at his history then. send him to outpatients for a shot up the arse every 2 weeks for the next 50 years, thatll fix him!'.
'ok, next...'. |

Beyond words....
heres the thing......he first attempted to rape her...then look at the advertisements on the same page...just sexual objects...society promotes it then when these kids act on it we simply absolve ourselves of the filth we put in their minds. |
