So I am graduating this year with my Bachelors of Applied Science and convocation isn't until June 19th. I am getting my TESOL diploma starting May 6th and its a 5 week program.
So by June 19th I should have both my TESOL and University degree. Is this too late to get a good job in a metropolitan city in Korea, i.e. Busan?

Too late for an EPIK application for the August intake = yes.
Too late for a private hire to a PS = no.
Too late for a hagwon job = no.
I'd be more focused on the job than the city. Bundang (Seongnam), Suwon, etc. and the other satellite cities of Seoul or Busan would be just as good for location and you open a lot more doors for job options (30 million people in Seoul and Gyeonggi province (the province that surrounds Seoul city)) as compared to 15 million for the rest of the country.

| I dunno what the current EPIK deadline is like for applying to start work in August for the fall semester, but you can certainly put in an application before you graduate and get your degree, and before you even start your ESL certificate course. You just need that stuff by when you first arrive in Korea. For the degree I know you have to get your university to provide a note saying you are expected to graduate on time. I can't remember what you do for the ESL cert other than tell EPIK that you are going to do one. |

You need to have a notarized copy of your degree sent to Korea for your visa -- the letter won't do. The letter is only good for the EPIK interview. |

I am applying through Teach Away, not EPIK. So I made a profile and when it asked highest level education completed I said Bachelors and just put completion date as June 2013. Likewise with my TESOL diploma.
I was told that Teach Away is not affiliated with EPIK anymore. So should I also apply to EPIK as well? |

Ah you're right, now that I think about it. You definitely do need the apostilled/notarized copy of the actual diploma for the visa. That said, if you're getting your degree in mid-June, I think you should be ok for the visa. If you got into EPIK you'd probably get a copy of your contract about 30 days before orientation, so early July? And you can't apply for the visa until you get that contract anyway. Took me about a week to get the visa in the US. |

Teach Away is a recruiter that helps people apply to jobs like EPIK jobs. EPIK is a Korean government program that places people in schools around Korea. What public school jobs are Teach Away saying to you that they have, if they're not doing EPIK jobs any more? (their website seems focused on EPIK jobs...)
If you want a public school job then I'd definitely apply to EPIK because it's the biggest program in Korea, either on your own or through a recruiter. (a good recruiter will give you a lot of advice on your application and for your interview, but using a recruiter will also for some reason slow down the process of getting an interview and hearing back about the interview) The other options are GEPIK which is a separate program, and the Incheon public schools which is also separate from EPIK. |
