All over Daves job listings. Really? No, replies. If you're 20's and have a decent job photo, you should be getting tons of replies, me thinks.

[quote="Steelrails"]Go through waygook.org and look at the lesson plan materials. Look at ones posted by female teachers vs. male. Notice a trend?

Obviously these are very general things and there are countless exceptions on both sides, but I think one needs to consider those things.

With all the obscure usernames, how do you know if someone is male or

female? I know some are obvious, but many are not.

I don't see how you could make the assumptions you're making in an

honest way.

But are you are real blonde? Maybe they said no because your roots were showing.

I don't have blonde hair, so I can't say for sure.

LOL, now you know what all women in Western countries feel when they get passed over for a job b/c a man also applied. Men get paid more, get more promotions, and aren't sexually harassed on the job.

Nobody said life was fair bb. Grow up and keep looking.

With everyone and their dog becoming gay nowadays in the west because it's seen as cool, don't be so sure. Just a matter of time till your boss starts hitting on you too. Surprised

Erm, we are talking about *openings,* right?

Females--openings.

Men--no openings.

OK, so we men can be opened, as it were, *unnaturally,* but most of these hakwon owners aren't queer (in that way). They wanna love ya right, baby!

Everything understood now, kids?

Latest uni job on Dave's says:
Quote:
Female applicants holding an M.A. are strongly preferred and will be given first consideration.

http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=57020

Pretty messed up. But I guess it's freaks like this we have to thank for the situation:
Quote:
My co-teachers mentioned that they were relieved when I was a woman but they didn't tell me why until months later. Apparently the previous native teacher was a man and he was kind of creepy. He would pay significantly more attention to the girls in class (middle school) and ask them for their phone numbers and to hang out. Some students felt uncomfortable and told the teachers, who told him he couldn't do that anymore and his response was "I'm lonely".

I'm sure that's not the reason for all schools who prefer female teachers, but that was the case with mine.

In some cases, Universities, MS and HS will prefer female teachers because of what male teachers did when employed. All it takes is one moron and it tars and feathers it for the school. Such a school would then likely figure they would save themselves the hassle and just try and hire a woman.

It is wrong but it can be understood from a school's perspective.

I've worked with a number of schools. Here is what I experienced. Some schools like to have gender balance. Some schools don't want gender balance. Some schools prefer men because women are more likely to quit. Some schools don't want change because they have a good crew working there. Some schools like women more because the parents think women are better with children. Some schools hired blonde women only to have them sexually harassed into quitting six months or so later.

Flavor of the school IMO.

If you look to the side and down of the poster username you will see one of two symbols for male or female. That is how you will know. Arrow pointing up like a *beep* is a man. Little cross pointing down is a woman. Yes, people could lie on the application but I would say 98 percent of the time, the sex is correct.

Fair points.

Pretty much in line with what I was saying. Well put.
