I kept trying to order it with origin but it switches to Korean. I don't mind that because the price of the game in actually cheaper in Korea. What I don't want is for all the directions to be in Korean when I purchase the game. Will all the directions and sound be in Korean if I purchase it on the origin website?

Looks like you should be okay, it says English and Korean:

I was looking forward to this game but I'm gonna hold off for now. Can't support DRM or forced multiplayer on principle. EA has been really dropping the ball lately.

DRM annoys the crap out of me, but I'm never NOT going to have an online connection at my desktop. Even if my internet was down I can always tether my phone.

So after deciding to give my money to the evil empire that is EA I went to order it online . Wonderfully the order link defaulted to Korean with NO OPTION to switch it into English, my Korean is basic but I couldn't understand all the fields. This is super annoying, it's an English game yet there's no option to order it in ENGLISH. The translate plug-in for Chrome wasn't working on the popup created. So after painfully filling everything out I got a wonderful error telling me that new account registrations are temporarily down. WTF??? I went to Origin's English site and tried to make an account there in English and got the same error.

They really don't want me to buy their product. With all the foreigners in Korea these idiots never thought to test out the ordering system in English?

I don't mind when things default into Korean, this is Korea after all, but not having the option to switch it into English is infuriating.

It's only a matter of time before it's on TPB anyway sans-DRM.
Sorry EA, going to play some online poker today instead and will umm wait for the non-DRM release

They don't take paypal in their korean store.
You need to buy it through the website you can use your korean online banking to pay for it. It's cheap here, only 45,000 won.

Log in using a vpn and connect to the whatever country's store you need. I do this all the time to buy from the usa store during sales because there is never a sale on the Korean store!

Or you could buy a key from a website that sells only keys. Some are dodgy but some are ok. I have bought a bunch of games from these people... http://www.cdkeyhouse.com/

But I refuse to pay more than $10-20 for this version of Sim City.

I haven't bought a game in five years due to all the DRM, activation, and online-only stuff.

Actually, I bought FarCry from gog.com but that had no DRM or anything. I sent Ubisoft an email about it and they just blew me off. EA is the same, I presume.

I'd look into reviews of the new SimCity before buying it; apparently the map is too small and they compromised city-scale simulation for tracking individual Sims instead.

I still play SimCity 2000 on an old (1995) Mac that I bought off of Craigslist and upgraded with a big screen. Fantastic game.

My curiosity got the best of me and I ended up buying it after all.
It only took me a 30 minute visit to Shinhan to setup my online banking, then another 20 minutes at home to register with the site and get the digital certificates on my computer and phone... then another 20 minutes of filling out those forms online only to receive an error message at the end. Then when I wasn't sure if I actually purchased the game I downloaded Origin (this was not obvious to a non PC-gamer) and saw that it appeared under my games. Finally I was playing it, even though it still doesn't show up as a transaction on my bank account.

Ironically I could have used that same Korean card and just bought it off of Amazon by simply punching in the #'s as if it were a credit card, no hassle and no installing a billion security plug-ins and being forced into using Internet Explorer. Korea needs to get out of the stone ages.

Great game though Shocked

This question may be related. If you get the North American origin and lets say you buy a game like battlefield from the NA site. Can you play on a Korean server or are you stuck on a NA server because you have that version. Any experiences with this? How was the lag etc if you can't use a korean server? ANy and all help would be greatly appreciated.

You can buy the download code (in a box too) at Hot Tracks too.

Waiting for an offline patch before I buy.
