If you are a single male, getting closed to or past 40 you will be accused of

such no matter how honorable your intentions.

But it's true, there are some Western guys who come to Asia thinking they'll easily be able to pick up chicks but fail miserably.

The author is one of these losers.

OK fill us in about the bar girl that you met and married. Does your girlfriend or wife love you when you send money back home to her family?

There are so many available chicks all over the place so just pick one and make her yours.

Zack, not everyone is as dashingly handsome and charming as you (and hence can't readily replicate your success).

Over the last few years while living outside of the United States, I have encountered numerous guys who think certain girls prefer white guys or will automatically pursue a white guy if he shows interest. Im not sure who perpetuates this myth, but as a white guy I can assure you it is false. Girls dont like white guys; they like attractive men. Some of those men just happen to be white.

In February, Ill have resided in Korea for two years. While living in this country that is obsessed with physical appearance, I have never been hit on or had an Asian girl express interest in me.

Nah, "accused" is a pretty strong word. Some may wonder why you're not married, but who knows, maybe you were and it didn't last. I hear that's pretty common these days. Also, there is a thing called minding your own business. I know how gossipy people can be and all, but whatcha gonna do..

Yah, you're right. Suspected would be a better word.

I wonder how true the above blog post link i posted is.

Finally, this is to the white guys thinking about teaching overseas or working overseas because you think your whiteness in Asia will remedy the drought of women in your life. In actuality, cross-culture relationships with a language barrier are far more difficult to maintain. Also, Korean girls are kind of a pain in the @$$ to date. If you are not doing well with ladies in America, you will not do any better with ladies here because of the color of your skin.

First of all, dating is the worst reason to come to Korea. If you have dating problems back home, Korea will only amplify those problems. Korea severely limits the amount of people you communicate with. Furthermore, Koreans will not find you more attractive because you are a westerner. Simply put, if you are ugly back home you might even be uglier in Korea.
Koreans take their appearance very seriously. They are tall, thin, and dress well. Job applications often include pictures, plastic surgery is viewed as a way to gain a competitive edge on your peers, and Korean women dont shop for food in sweatpants; they buy their Captain Crunch wearing heels.

The only exception is if you are an attractive westerner with a poor personality. In those cases, a language barrier will help mask those inadequacies. However, the cultural and language differences do not put the odds for a successful relationship in your favor.

In general, if you come to Korea with dating as a reason you are wrong.

I was at lotte mart today, and saw several men and women in sweatpants, and not a single person in heels. There is some truth that they tend to take appearance more seriously, and in Seoul this is probably more true, but not nearly to the extent they are saying, and I saw plenty of chubby people as well.

Right. Obesity in Korea is skyrocketting. I think less women wear high heels than in the past too.

You are basing this assumption on what you saw in a supermarket, not like, a club? Of course people don't put much effort in when they are doing the weeks shop lol!
