In a word. horseshit but you are entitled to your opinion.

Oh, and 1000 plus cases out of all inquiries/complaints would make it a statistically valid and randomized sample.

.

You have no concept of the idea of statistically valid sampling. There is nothing random about the people who contact the Help Center. People who have no trouble would have no reason to call there. In fact, most would not know of the Help Center's existence.

Your opinions are obviously meaningless, based on the knowledge of nothing at all. Go back to school. Study math and logic. You're current math comprehension level is no higher than 3rd grade - that's Elementary School.

Good morning ontheway, did you sleep well?

Wow you're arguing with a PhD about statistics, is there no end to your talents?

Ttompatz is claiming that experiencing 100 teachers per year who have complaints major enough so that they personally seek aid from the Help Center is a random sample of all the E2 teachers in Korea and their experiences at their jobs ...

No. I'm not arguing with him. I'm pointing out that his claim is beyond stupid. It's ludicrous. Yes, it's a 3rd grade elementary school math concept he has failed to comprehend.

It would be like claiming, after seeing 100 E2 teachers per year visit the Canadian Embassy in Seoul, that every E2 teacher in Korea is Canadian. Yes, it's that stupid and that wrong.

So, no, I'm not arguing with him. No need. What he is claiming is obviously stupid and wrong. So, I only need to point it out to everyone else. Of course this is beyond the comprehension of some people, and PhDs are fairly meaingless in many fields, but those who have even a smattering of math ability will comprehend.

Just browsing...waiting for my Ipad to charge...

Funny thing...a school does NOT have to honor your 60 days notice. You can submit it but then they can turn right around the next day and tell you they found someone...which equates to a lot of money being lost on your part.

Unless I am wrong...

There was a recent poll up in one of the threads with around 50% of the teachers on E2 visas reporting not having National Health Insurance.

ontheway, are you still in the recruiting business?

If it's in the contract that you will get a LOR in exchange for 60 days notice and the school reneged then you could probably convince the LB to give you their own equivalent an LOR due to some sort of employment dispute.

If you hand in your resignation and then get fired, you could probably also go to the LB and file a complaint. An employer needs a valid reason to fire you. If you simply told them that you're going to quit or are considering quitting then they might turn around and fire you for some made-up reason and get away with it but if you emailed them the resignation or had an audio recording (even if the boss didn't know you were recording the conversation) then you could tell the LB that you think you were fired as punishment for quitting. The LB generally takes that seriously and they can see the obvious fact that you were fired immediately after quitting. You might not get anything if the school sticks to it but the school would at least have it on its permanent record which can cause problems for the owner later. It might also provide the leverage necessary to keep your job a little longer, get an LOR (or equivalent form the LB). If you're sticking around Korea then you're very likely to get paid in full at the end (at least for time worked) because if the boss didn't pay then that would be a SECOND and separate complaint against them on the books. If it eventually did go to court (a simple but time consuming process) then you would very likely win.
