Conglomerates/Japanese effect/divided peninsula/low birth rate


Although I wish Koreans all the best, there are 4 things that concern me about their future:

1) Conglomerates (specifically the Chaebols):

Wheather or not conglomerates are successful over a long term is personal opinion. The Korean Chaebols seem to be particular cause for concern as they have too much power and as a result may get lazy/less efficient. Samsung is going through a transition now and I could see it being a disaster.

2) The wearing off of the Japanese effect:
The more I learn about Korea's history, the more it becomes clear that so much of what holds the country together is what they learned from Japan.

In Japan this evolved over thousands of years from within, with Korea it was sprinkled on them and it was not embedded over time (as with Japan).

3) The peninsula is divided

4) There is a low birth rate

2 makes me want to think you are joking. Are you talking about how Korea's rising labor costs and advanced society mean the textile industry is no longer beefy? Or is this a serious misunderstanding of Japanese 'gifts' to Korea. Japan learned from the Americans only a couple decades before they started messing with Korea.
3. Re-unification is the potential threat, although some think it would be better in the long run. South Korea got rich being divided, before the division it would have sucked to be an ordinary citizen here. Unless you are talking about North Korea.
