The Buses stop running at 11pm. If you get on a bus at say 10:30, it will run the route as far as 11pm will get you..then the driver will abandon the route, as everyone to get off.
Taxi's are not all that expensive. A taxi from downtown to the YU area will cost about 15,000 - 20,000 won. After midnight the fare rate increases, and then once you cross over into Gyeongsan there is another out of city increase as well. But assuming the taxi driver goes straight through the city (its the same road that runs through downtown to YU, so there should be no turns) it shouldnt be more than 20,000.
There is/are/was some trains that will run from either Daegu or Dongdaegu station to Gyeongsan station. I have never taken them personally sop i cant lay out the exact times..but yeah that is a nice option.
As far as nightlife in Gyeongsan...there isnt much. The YU area is about the most exciting place as far as Gyeongsan is concerned..but there isnt much other that Korean style beer joints and restaurants...some bowling, billards, etc misc. stuff. There is an art center on the YU campus that has the occasional orchestra/musical/or some other type of performance..but those seem to be rather few and far between.
Honestly in my opinion the only positive about being in this area other than Daegu itself is that there is a greater variety of nationalities to mingle with around here..foreign students, researchers..etc., and that the housing here is so much cheaper than Daegu itself (probably why the school placed you here) However the subway is being extended to the university, so once that is completed transportation will be alot more convenient. |

A few updates.
The area of the city on the daegu side has developed quite a bit. The Daegu subway has been extended 3 stations deep into Gyeongsan, with the line ending at Yeongnam University.
Gyeongsan just got its first TRUE Gyeongsan shopping store, with a rather nice Homeplus that just opened this week. |

| I'm also looking for housing in the Gyeongsan or eastern Daegu area...would like to be somewhat close (maybe 25-30 min drive at most) to Daegu University. If anyone knows of realtors, available places, or has advice about areas to live or not to live please let me know. |

| I'm looking for an apartment or villa that has at least one bedroom (not one room) maybe about 15-20 pyeong. Ideally I'd like it to be close to a subway station. Does your realtor speak English? |

No, but i have translated for others looking for a place in this area. My area (Yeungnam University) is about where you want to be is you want a moderate commute to Daegu University (20 minutes), yet convenient to the subway.(right on the main street)
PM me if you are interested and want to swing by. I'd be happy to translate (as I got a discount in my rent the last time I referred someone to them and translated..and also I'm scoring points with them to get the sweetest place in the area come February) |
