|
|
I got my visa extended last week but found out it could only be extended to the date my passport expires (opps....didn't realize it was expiring!!).
So I've got an extension on my visa until May 25th. I applyed for a new passport and it will be available on May 24th. I need to keep working until May 31st, and I won't have a chance to leave the country until at least June 5th.
If my visa expires on May 25th do I have to leave the country on that date? How long do I have? Should I apply for another extension? Can I apply for an extension on the same day my visa expires? Does it take time to get the extension?
Help/advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Kyle |

New passport in hand I'd head straight to immigration same day or 25th at the latest & get it done. Take the same documents you took last time & expect to pay a fee again. They should process it then & there. |

Sounds like a good plan. However, I'd go in now and make sure it will be ok to do this on the same day the visa expires. I doubt they would be too pleased if you just walked in that day without telling them you were coming and expecting an extension, because usually they expect you to do it before it expires so that they don't have to give you an extension. |

As soon as you have the new passport, I would take everything in and have it done. Are you really leaving the country? Take your place ticket, too, and you should be able to get through the 5th.
