No, any association formed, may be deemed a union by the government and that is illegal.  |

They might be illegal or legal but a foreign teachers union in Korea would, in my opinion, be useless and unfeasable due to the nature of the teaching market here. |

I agree. Foreign teachers would need a powerful advocate, not a union. |

Okay, unions are legal, pure and simple. It is illegal however for E-2 holders to join one. |

But if it were only an association that helped foreign teachers get together and help in settling new teachers into Korean life. Would that be illegal. |

This sounds more like a volunteer association to help newbies.
It would still be unfeasable due the nature of the teaching market, i.e. mostly short-term teachers (1-2 years) with little interest in investing in the place (quite understandable). |

Not as far as I know. But who would be willing to do this (in addition to their job)? Unless it is a person at their school it is unlikely to happen. Then too see what Mr. Homer said. |
