I have an E-2 visa (although I plan to have an F visa in the next year or 2).
Today I go to a store to buy an Iphone and I am told that they can only give a plan to F visa holders.
They suggested that I buy the phone (at full price) and take it to a Korean phone shop to get service on it.
As an aside my current phone is in my name and I get billed for it directly to me (not provided by the school).
This is weird....I've talked to several E-2's who have Iphone plans.....
Advice???? |

In my experiences, working directly with a KT dealer (not an independent shop) has been much more favorable to the alternatives. |

That's a load of crap. I got a Galaxy S3 without have to pay up front an E-2. I just pay monthly along with my bill, it's like 75k with unlimited 3g data and some data use for LTE. |

You also try an LG/Oz shop, they've been giving cell phone contracts to E2 visa holders for years. |

Most likely a shop that didn't want to work with you or go through the hassle of doing what is necessary for filling out the application paperwork from the sound of it. |

I would avoid LG/oz since their phones wont work when you take them abroad as most of their phones don`t even use a sim card for some odd reason. My friend has a nice but useless Galaxy phone that he found was useless in Australia.
Stick to SK / KT.
As someone mentioned before, goto one of the global stores.
KT has one in Gangnam and Gwangwhamun |

There are also KT global stores in Itaewon (near Rocky Mountain Tavern) and Hongdae (straight out exit 9). I've been to both to get an iPhone, and to replace an iPhone and never had any trouble or hassle. |
