I'm at a Public School, employed by an MOE in a rural district.
Was taken to Immi today to apply for my ARC which will obviously enable me to arrange my new bank account/phone contract/internet.
I expected to undergo the standard medical examination prior to my ARC application but was told it was not necessary.
Immi accepted my ARC application and told me that my card will be issued and sent to my school address within 2 weeks.
So has this rule been relaxed as I'm in a rural location? (I was always required to provide the med. check when in a metropolitan location)?!?!
Just a bit surprised *(and happy)that I don't have to keep proving I'm not a drug user with HIV and TB etc.?!?! |

Sounds like you haven't been out of Korea for more than 90 days since your last ARC issuance.

Similar for me. Renewing with schools I have not been asked for one. Transferring to a new school asked for, but it was the school asking. I bet immigration would not have cared to much. I think the official took it looked and it and filed it away.
Still people should not expect not to do one. If immigration asks, then get one. If school or recruiter asks, double check if it really needed.
Also since you are with a public school. You can expect a health check in the future. I think it is free and for insurance purposes with the public schools.
Good Luck |

I've been out of Korea for over a year - my coordinator from the MOE said that it wasn't necessary to submit a medical check which really confused me, and immi accepted the application. |

Thanks.
Strangely I've been out of Korea for over a year so wasn't renewing or transferring. Perhaps, like you say, the MOE will do the medical soon and send the results to immi post ARC application?
Don't mind a health check every now and then, but would rather not cough up 100,000+ won to prove I'm clean and uninfected! |
