Anyone know about getting a driving record in Korea?
I'm assuming I just go down to the DMV and ask, but not sure what it is in Korean and what they may wish me to bring.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Will be trying to use this to help lower my insurance rates back home. So far I have records from my insurance agents here. Also have an international license to use until the process is sorted out in Canada. I hear folks also have to have their Korean license translated once home.
Any experiences on that would be great to hear too. |

You can get that from your insurer.
It is called 영문무사고증명서.
It basically shows the period of your policy and indicates that you had no claims during that period. |

Pretty sure that shouldn't be a problem - at least not in principle, but depending on how helpful the agent you deal with is, you might have to politely hassle them a few times to actually get it.
But it's something that most Korean insurers seem familiar with, in both directions. I've dealt with a couple of insurers in Korea who were happy to accept the same kind of document from elsewhere to lower my premium here (even though it was in neither Korean nor English) and I know people who've moved elsewhere who got the same from their insurer when they left.
Will insurers in Canada definitely allow claim-free years in Korea to count towards a reduction in your Canadian insurance premium? I'm not Canadian so I've no idea, but I'd suggest confirming that first before wasting any time getting a document that wouldn't help you with anything. |

Not sure. That's what I've been told. I was reading on an American site that they require a driving record from a DMV in Korea. I have the forms from my insurance agents and will be trying those in Canada. |
