How could you get the temperature to go up just one or two degrees? |

Public school? I think Hakwon workers usually have the freedom to crank the a/c as much as possible. But, us public schoolers have to suffer under the old folks love of heat. |

I just heard yesterday that, uniquely in my school, if the English room reaches 30C we can use the AC. I'm guessing the catch is it'll practically never actually reach 30, but constantly sit at 28 or 29 with almost 100% humidity during July and August. I don't know because we didn't have a thermometer last year. |

Making people suffer so that the government can look as if it cares about the environment and saving public funds. |

I walked into a classroom yesterday morning.
One of the teachers had the AC on full blast (at 22C) - against the express wishes of the P and local education office.
And guess what 80% of the classroom windows fully open
I just asked them if they wanted me to open the other windows for them - they said yes! |

Total BS. Maybe when we start passing out or feeling nautious, maybe they'll wake up!! Yeah, I have one school that's like that. I want to tell them all to go eff themselves. I'm always in a really bad mood because they're too stupid to turn it on. If it's 29.9 degrees and 100% humidity, they'll make you suffer to no ends. Never use to be like this. |

No just obese - fat is a great insulator!
They’re doing it to try and avoid a blackout across the country btw!
The humidity will get much worse now that the rainy season is about to start……
Anyway, no point getting angry with your school – they’re just following instructions (even though the office is prob running the AC)
It could be much worse though - you could be in the heat in Afghanistan being shot at.
Or in India wading through sewage and dead bodies after the flooding.
Or in a manual labour camp in N.Korea........
Always look on the bright side! |

That was exactly the rule in my girls middle school about 5 years ago. The girls sitting around after lunch waiting for the VP to check the thermostat, then a huge yay! School dismissed.
Then the girls all ran down to the beach & into the sea in their uniforms. Parents & officials werent impressed, & there were liability issues. The school installed AC soon after. |

True. I was there in summer some years ago. Not being shot at though, it was between wars. 50 degrees (120F) with not even an electric fan! |

Our office and English Zone has their own air conditioners so we just blast them whenever we want. Other teachers in the school are jealous and the only reason they haven't snitched seems to be that my main coteacher is well liked by all the teachers in the school. |

No, then you'll just be called "lazy".
...while they sit in their office blasting the A/C with the windows open, and using the budget for 50,000 won in snacks per day.
(meanwhile you can't use the A/C and have to beg for a few packs of mix coffee and paper for class materials) |

That's a good reason to get angry with anyone. |
