61 injured, 2 killed. Those not injured got off on the slides...some with their luggage. The tail fell off for reasons unknown.
SFO (San Francisco) is completely shut down and they are diverting planes to LAX, SJC (San Jose), and Oakland. If you know anyone coming in to SFO from Asia, they will definitely be delayed.
I am in San Jose (abt 1 hour from SFO) btw, so I can get local news if anyone needs it. Channel 2 (ktvu.com) seems to have the best information right now.
EDIT: New information came over.

Local news report says:

At least two dead, 12 injured in Boeing 777 crash at SFO |
The article says one witness stated the aircraft seemed to have flipped over upon landing. If it had, the wings likely wouldn't still be there. You'll notice the tail section is missing. That leads me to guess that the two fatalities (assuming the report of fatalities is correct) may very well be two of the flight attendants.
It's the lead story on CCTV here. Their reporters said that there will be news conferences every hour and the next one will be at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

There was also a fire and reports of smoke coming from the tailpiece. there is a jogging path between the two main runways (great for plane watching), so there were many witnesses. The tail hit first and the nose was pointing up when it landed. The passengers seem very calm. |

The two fatalities were holders of Chinese passports - in other words, they were not a part of the flight crew. |

'Asiana jet crash further tarnishes Korean carrier's safety record' by Jack Kim and Hyunjoo Jin[Additional reporting by Ju-min Park]
http://news.yahoo.com/asiana-jet-crash-further-tarnishes-korean-carriers-safety-030057994.html
"Two years ago, one of its 747 cargo jets bound for Shanghai crashed into the sea off Korea's Jeju island after taking off from Incheon airport. Two pilots on board were killed in the crash, which was blamed on mechanical problems.
In 1993, an Asiana domestic flight from Seoul crashed in driving wind and extremely poor visibility in a botched landing attempt, killing 66 people and injuring 44.
An inquiry found pilot error was the cause of that crash when the plane began a descent while it was still passing over a mountain peak." |

Yikes, I hope Korean Air has a better safety record. I'm flying with them in a couple of weeks. |

The crash of an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 in San Francisco on Saturday is only the second major accident for the twin-engine, wide-bodied jet in the 18 years the model has been in service, aviation safety expert said.
"The 777 has a fantastic record," said Tom Haueter, who retired last year from the National Transportation Safety Board, where he was the head of aviation accident investigations.
The two accidents share a striking similarity — both occurred just about the time the planes were touching down to landing. |

Not necessarily, airlines do hire foreign nationals to staff their flight crew. And considering ICN is a major transit point and the plane was headed to a country with a large Chinese population, that flight probably had at least one Chinese speaking crew on it (nationality unknown though). |

Glad to see that this, and the last few crashes, have had a lot of survives. A big thank you to those manufactures doing something to improve survival chances. |

I read one article that said around half the passengers were Chinese, around a quarter were Korean, and around a quarter were American. So they probably did have some Chinese flight attendants. It seems like the Korean airlines seem to segregate waygooks to the back of the plane anyway. |
