Hi,
I'm going to be travelling round Asia when my contract ends and I've been having a bit of a headache trying to get my vaccines sorted out.
The doctor sent me to a medical clinic, the clinic said I get the malaria stuff on perscription from the doctor and have to go and have a health check at the hospital before they will give me hepatitis A and B jabs.
All this has been very hard to sort due to the language barrier. I'm sure others have looked into this and could give me some advise.
Thanks everyone. |

The most important thing to protect against Malaria is using insect repellant and other devices that mess up the homing ability of mosquitos. A huge proportion of Plasmodium parasites are resistant to the medications. |

just make sure your hep. and tetnus vacines are upto date. Also, check on the embassy page of the country your travelling too or the lonely planet page or whatever. Theyll have travel advice of what to take.
I 100% agree with the other poster, theres no better prevention for mozzies and insects than keeping covered up at night and sleeping under a net.
And really, just keep your head about you. Alot of people get sick drinking from bottles of water (for example that have been resealed - i always check the cap), dirty food (not cooked in the right way) and std's. Do some reading on that too. Being informed is a very good preventative of most bad things. |

about the hep. jabs, try a couple of different clinics. My gf went to two different ones last year. Second time, they ordered them in and gave them there and then. Im not sure what the shelf life is on hep., but most people dont keep them stocked.
forget the malaria, there are too many strains... |

Thanks.
It's hepi A and B that I was told I need a health check at a hospital for. My tetnus should be up to date as I had a jab a couple of years ago. |

i dont know what visa regulations there are on every country, but I was told before i travelled from thailand to cambodia, to have a copy of what jabs id had in case asked for them. I never was, but I still carry a copy with me just in case im asked for them by border control/immi. on a little card. |
