I wanted to know your views on cosmetic surgery and whether you care about it, as in would you date/marry a Korean who has plastic surgery? |

Some of those 'before and after' ads/photos on the subway can show a drastic change in appearance.
So if i was seriously going to marry someone who'd had surgery, i'd want to see childhood/teenager pics. Does that sound shallow? Terribly sorry if it does.
Although one can't deny that physical attractiveness is a major factor in mate selection, so i'd want to know what she really looks like. |

I think wanting the need to have plastic surgery afflicts the young. The older you get (in my case for sure) the more comfortable you get being in your own skin. When I was 20, I would worry about stupid shit such as the size of my nose or whatever but the older I got, the less I cared as I realised none of it made a difference in regards getting girlfriends, jobs, having good things happen to you. |

Remember that Chinese guy not so long ago who sued his wife for having an ugly baby. His reasoning was that she didn't tell him she'd had a lot of work done before they met, so his assessment of how attractive their kids were going to be was skewed. |

Doesn't really bother me unless it's too obvious she had work done. And if she's the type of woman that destroys all her old pictures, then I probably couldn't see her as marriage material. |

While I agree with you, I think there are many women who would disagree.
Outside of the entertainment industry, attractiveness for men is like a nice cherry on top, for women it carries a lot more weight. This is doubly true in Korea. |

Yeah, I was gonna bring that up.
For me, it wouldn't be a big deal, but I would be curious about how they looked before and how necessary the surgery had been. One Korean guy I went out with a few times was telling me that he'd had surgery on his eyes. It didn't really affect the way I thought about him since he wasn't like a super prissy guy or anything. If they just got plastic surgery every year for the hell of it because they hated everything about their body (even though it looked fine), I might have to think about if I wanted a long term romantic relationship with that person. |

So what about eye tattoos (i mean permanent eye liner or whatever the feck it is)? Is that any more or less acceptable than a blade? Or make up? Or having a hair cut? Or shaving your balls? Or getting your ears pierced? or getting your belly button done? Wheres the line?
Its all cosmetic adjustment. Done in the name of vanity. |

Anyone else notice how the OP of this thread asks random questions concerning you and your thoughts on Koreans and their habits. Yet, there is rarely a response/involvement in discussion after the initial post from them? If there is a response, it is typically a one liner leading question to further bait. |

Strikes ya as... a sort of reporter, eh? No doubt we'll read some article somewhere where- John, an American, says that Korean cosmetic culture is ____________"
I sort of wish they'd quote our screen names instead. I'd like to see "Captain Corea" in a serious newspaper. lol |
