in order i've been on a:
c-4 visa
tourist visa
e-2 visa
and i'm about to come back into korea on a tourista (from oz).
my company is currently applying for an e-7 visa, but approval hasn't been given yet.
when immigration asks me why i'm coming back to korea, what's the response least likely to cause a ruckus?

Doesn't sound like you are doing anything illegal. Just tell them the truth.
btw, what are C4 and E7 visas for? |

elmer,
i'm very inclined to tell the truth, but i wonder if any thing i say will be deemed un-tourist visa worthy. i don't plan on working, but my visa record seems to suggest i wont be tourist-ing either. i've also thought of saying i'm coming to smooch with my girly, but...
a C-4 is a short term work-study visa. an e-7 is a "special" occupation visa (difficult to get - fingers crossed). you can get a breakdown of all the visas on... check em out here: http://www.moj.go.kr/mojeng/mainfunction/mainfunction_6_c.php?chkGubun=131
any other takers?

Assuming your ticket is two-way:
The guy at the airport will look at your passport.
You say, "I'm here on business"
He stamps and forgets about you immediately |

Thx for the link. Most interesting. I thought it was the same one I'd seen before, but this one was way more thorough.
funny thing was that it didn't include any real info on the F2 visa that everyone is always asking about.
must be a conspiracy. haha
Couldn't think of any more ideas for you. Last time I came in without a work visa or anything (after having 3 years of work visas), they didn't ask me anything. That was 2 years ago though, so not sure if it's relevant.
Job interview?? |

I've come back to Korea twice now on just the automatic tourist VISA, and nobody really asks me anything at the immigration counter. I just write "visiting a friend" on the little yellow card.
How that pertains to you getting an E-7? Doesn't really pertain. But I don't think you have much to worry about. You can just be trying to keep in touch with friends, or just trying to see "X" places in Korea because you were too busy beforehand to see them. |

Yesh, well, a week to go, eh???
Checking out the weblink provided, I ran across something curious, which MIGHT fit your bill
The H-1 visa is good for you; apparently, you can get 'permission' (although I would not know from who) to work in a foreign language institute.
Interesting, no? Too bad USA-types can't do this one, too . . .
Just a thought!

| Did you ever get this visa? Did you get in without any problems? What did you tell them? |

| Yeah, probably not, but I am interested in the topic of multiple consecutive visas of different types. |

| The best answer in your slip would be to study Korean. That would give their nationalistic pride an ego boost. Also say you missed Kimchi too much. |

The kimchi part is true. I won't be on a visa for studying. |
