Hello All.
I'm finishing up my two year contract mid-October. I am currently in the process of updating my resume. I was thinking about going the CV route, but I am not that sure. In the past I've only put together the traditional resume. I was able to get my current job in South Korea by using just a resume.
I would like to teach in Thailand because I have a girlfriend there. Can I still use my current resume and just update it or should I go the CV route? In America we tend to use a resume when applying for jobs.
Can a CV be as long as 8 pages!
Thanks. |

It reallt depends. Someplaces will look a little at the resume, while other will barely glance and look at the photo. The more professional the place the more helpful a CV will be. For hagwons and many other private schools a basic English resume will be fine.
Really careful on length. Too much and some people will skip. I am a believer of 2 pages max. Yet you could fill out your job package application with photos and videos. |

Thanks for the reply Skippy. I'm currently at a private school and my resume was just fine. What about if I were to apply for a position at an international school? Would a traditional resume suffice?
My resume is kept at only 2 pages max. |

Also, should I use a recording of me teaching a class? I have a few recordings and they are quite good.
Can I send a video of me teaching a class or should I wait until I have my job interview? |

I would include the videos as part of a web page. If the school is interested they can click on.
With a true International school. I would go professional and very nice. One part of me says a CV, but another says keep it simple. |

Thanks again Skippy.
I have a friend who is teaching at an international school in Dubai. I'm going to ask her if she used a CV or a traditional resume. |

Resume and keep it short.
Most people reviewing them won't be able to deal with the nuances of a detailed resume and the prose that goes into it much less a CV with all the detail.
2 pages is adequate for all but the most competitive of the 1st tier international schools.
