It is possible your boss sees you as dressed up compared to other teachers.

I don't think so, there is only 1 other foreigner and she dresses well(though the closer it gets to summer the more of a glamour she is becoming Smile ) and the K-teachers dress as they normally do, in their wallpaper fashion that screams conformity.

You should know, if you have been in Korea long enough and teaching for long enough, compliments don't really mean anything here. Very often it is small talk and they are just trying to flatter you in the same way they like to be flattered.

And I don't really believe that children compliment you on your teaching or appearance.

Makeovers are evil- People aren't houses, they shouldn't require renovation. Besides, can you imagine what Zed would do if we cut his hair?! Laughing

If someone could look better, then he or she should accept the help. Clothes are like houses, we have to live in them.

Aiiiish...but what is better? There is a stopping point to giving someone a makeover and that is when the person starts to feel uncomfy. Clothes and makeup are there to enhance a person's good points and maybe downplay flaws, but you shouldn't try to be another person in them.
I wouldn't give a guy a makeover unless he really wanted one and then I would absolutely stress that he did not need to listen to me and if he liked his ratty Husker Du T-shirt, he could keep it.

Ha ha...only the strong should use Magic Straight. You can't wash your hair for three days after it's done.

I thought Zed's hair was pin straight anyways?

She is far mroe diplomatic than I would be soryr that ratty husker du t shirt is going up in flames Twisted Evil

As for makeovers, sometimes people just need a gentle prod to send them in the right direction. Before I left for korea I was a poster child for sloveny university ways, bad clothes, bad hair cut and I never wore make up. Now I can barely leave the house without any on and am spending way more on clothes than I should be. At the moment my hair isn't looking great though. Personally I blame blue flower, for the princess transformation. She has created a monster!
