|

I'm new to the Naeson-dong area of Uiwang. I live really close to the Lotte Mart. What all is there to do around here? I have seen a few foreigners walking, but haven't had an opportunity to really be able to talk to anyone. Where do the foreigners hang out? My school is very small and I am the only English teacher, so I can't meet other people there.
Any suggestions? |

Hopping on 7501 and 40-min ride take you to Seocho/Gangnam. (Note: This is a weekdays-only route)
That is simply to say you 'could' go there, not that you 'should.' |

I know I can head to Seoul anytime for some big city fun, but Anyang is pretty big. There's gotta be plenty stuff to do here, people to meet up with. |

The Avalon teachers used to go to the Wa Bar there, though I moved some time ago and I can't confirm that this is still the case. Otherwise, hit up Happidus in Beomgye and you'll meet all the local foreigners. Alternatively, there's also Dugout on Hagwon-ga, which trends a little bit older/more seasoned (assuming he's still in business). The latter has free pool, Wii, darts, etc. If you want to meet Korean girls, head over to MC Bar by Anyang Station. Note that there isn't really anything to do in Uiwang and that Naeson-dong is really disconnected from Uiwang proper; you're better off just asking for advice on Anyang. |

It depends on what you mean by fun but a great thing about living in Anyang is that you're close to Seoul. If you have time off right now you can go to Seoul and see some of the tourist sights. |

I used to live in the Naeson-dong area of Uiwang, in the officetel with the GS25 below it and hotels behind it (I can't for the life of me remember the name).
Although it was 2 years ago I'd personally suggest trying the Facebook Group for Anyang, and maybe the one for Sanbon/Gunpo.
Honestly there isn't much going on in Anyang and basically nothing in Uiwang. However Seoul is just a bus ride away. |

Like others have said, you are in a great location with many options.
If you can get to Anyang subway station then there's a Lotte Cinema and a Krispy Kreme. You can take the #1 line to Seoul. If you get off at Sindorim Station there's shopping and restaurants in D Cube City, next to the station. Ride a few more stops and you can get off at Yongsan Station, which has a large cinema with many restaurants and coffee shops. There are many foreigners in there on a typical day. Also, you can take a short taxi ride to Itaewon. A few more stops and you're at Seoul City Hall in the middle of the Seoul historic area. Go a few more stops and you'll arrive at Seoul Station. You can transfer to the #4 line and you're close to Myeong Dong. There's much more as you go further north through the heart of Seoul. From Anyang Station all of that is less than one hour away. |

Anyang Station is a good thirty minutes from where the OP is at though. |

Just giving the OP some options and an idea of how close many fun things can be. |

Hi- you must live quite near me! I live near the Holly's Coffee. The area seems nice, but kind of quiet.
I've only been here a couple of weeks (working in Saturdays/ in Gwacheon hasn't left me much time to explore yet).
The 777 (walk down the road and left at the lotte mart intersection) is the quickest way to get to Sadang/Indeogwon to transfer/explore- or the 1-1 winds through Uiwang to Indeogwon station.
There are some cute little restaurants behind the 7/11 (and a place that only does chips and beer!), and one of the best coffee shops in Korea- Harrar (opposite direction to lotte- up the road and just around the corner) |
