See, that's the myth. Koreans will tell you the Korean language is an extremely easy language to learn...because of hangul. It really pisses me off to keep hearing about how easy the Korean language is to learn. (It's not.)

I think the "pure blood" myth that some people continue to perpetuate is something that may prove problematic as Korea attempts to come to terms with the evolution and development, particularly in relation to mixed race children, of the citizens of this country.

I also think that many Koreans consider most Korean food as healthy is worrisome, especially when the stomach cancer rates in this country suggest that something, (high contents of salt are currently suspected), is amiss.

I'd have a drink with you, too. Maybe best not to have it on the same day though.

that if rain touches your hair you will lose your hair

that men who have been to thailand are perverts (one of my korean friends informed me that it is actually a question that some of the major matchmaking companies here ask you and if you say that you have been you lose points... Rolling Eyes )

that black people taste like chocolate (happened to a friend of mine. kid went up to her, ran his finger on her skin, tasted it, proceeded to inform his friends she did in fact NOT taste like chocolate)

that america is paradise (koreans think america is nyc, las vegas, chicago, and la, all of which are nothing like the other 95% of america)

that paris is the most passionate place in the world (double irony: korean people are some of the least passionate people i've ever met)

that eating too much spicy food is bad for your health

that korean beer is good

that it's okay to learn how to scuba dive without knowing how to swim (it's a bad idea and i know a shockingly large amount of koreans who think it's fine)
