Hi Everyone!

Anyone know anything about this school? It is located in Jeonju City. It sounds like it is a small school since there are only 4 teachers and 4 classrooms in it....

I think I have a job offer from there, so any info would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know anything about Jeonju City? Never been there...all I know is that it's 3 hours southwest of Seoul.....

Thanks!
AlyAllen

HAHAHAHA!!!

Very true....Apparently the school is owned by a Canadian and a Korean....I almost felt like asking about the name in an email but I thought it might be rude.....

I read an ad from this school. I think one of the guys has the last name Lyon so I figure he must be Uncle Lion. I lived in Jeonu and liked it very much. Good food. Not many foreigners, which was fine with me. Regular, uncrowded, plentiful and cheap public transportation and taxis. Many historical sites. If you do take the job and end up living there I'd love to keep in touch and we could correspond more about Jeonju.

Ahhh Margaret...You are so smart! You are completely right and I'm a moron. Embarassed I completely forgot that the man's last name is Lyons. Silly me....

I am still in contact with the school and things are looking good so far, so it appears as if we (margaret and I) will correspond about Jeonju quite a bit Very Happy

Thanks for your info,
AlyAllen

By the way...is the correct (official) spelling Jeonju or Cheonju or something in between?

The one known for bibimbap is Jeonju
The one near Daejeon is Cheong ju

You do NOT want to get those two confused!

Yes, Jeonju was where I lived and enjoyed. Spelled Jeonju even though they pronounce it more like "Chunju". The other was probably my least favorite place in Korea--seemed like most people we encountered were cranky. By the way, if you or anyone needs a place to stay for a night I recommend the Tiffany hotel--cheap by American standards--around the equivalent of $25 US but very nice and with this super massage shower I'll never forget.

I used to live in Jeonju and I know the owner of the school. He's a friend of mine but I don't know much about the school. If you have any questions you think I can answer just PM me.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to update ya'll. I was offered a job at Uncle Lion's and I have basically accepted. I want to thank everyone for their info on Jeonju but please do tell me more about it if you can. I will update ya'll on my progress...

Anyway, I'm scheduled to leave the end of August with a start date of September 1, 2004. I am trying to figure out a good return date for my ticket, would September 15, 2005 make sense?

Thanks everyone,
AlyAllen

Good luck and have fun. Feel free to write me at [email protected] if you have any other questions about Jeonu or just want to "talk" while you're there. One more thing not to worry about--the express bus from the airport is the most luxurious, comfortable ride--big roomy seats and if you you ride overnight everybody sleeps.
