I thought I was going crazy with this but I happened to have one of those half liter bottles at a restaurant the other night after the first round of drafts. When we poured those bottles into the glasses that are supposed to be 500cc about about a third of the beer was left in the bottle and there wasn't any foam in the glass.

So then just today I tried this again (yeah I drink too much) and got the same result. I guess hofs and piride chicken-uh places just actually are serving 333cc beers and calling them 오백?

I think this is because the use pint glasses and a pint (U.S.) is only 473cc. Which would just be cumbersome to say when ordering.

Well they must be using smaller than that. 27cc is just like a swig but I'm telling you both times I've tried this there was like a third of one of those half liter bottles left over. The 2 glasses I've tried this on had to have been 400cc at most. And "saaah beak chillship sam hanna doh" is perfectly simple for a drunk to say.

Also I need to remind you that this is an issue of the upmost importance. Heads will roll over this. This could very possibly change the outcome of the next Korean presidential election. In these desperate times we must be ever vigilant and come together as one people. As was pointed out in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, "whatever your race whatever your creed, whatever your gender or sexual orientation, you have a right to get a real 500cc when you pay for it."

There's also 2 sizes of glasses that look very similar, but aren't in size. The smaller one is for small beers and the other one for big beers. If the difference is really one third of the bottle then you most likely got one of the smaller glasses.

Ok this is the glass I just tested this on.

http://i.imgur.com/ODHmPY5.jpg ( obviously much of the beer has been drunk already)

I'm not a total idiot. I realize there are a ton of idiots on the Internet so I don't blame you for assuming that I am one.

This definitely isn't one of the smaller glasses. This is the largest glass I've ever seen that one of these places in Korea. This glass is supposed to be 500cc (or 473cc or whatever). This glass was filled by only 2/3 of a glass half liter bottle of Cass. 1/3 was left over in the bottle even though it was poured slowly and carefully and there was no head in the glass.

I feel as though I'm going to have to make a video next. Maybe this is just a good scam in my area where they use thicker glasses so that they can save just a tiny bit of money on draft beers. I suppose it would really add up over time.

The big class and the small glass are the same height. It's the diameter of the opening that is different.

I read an article about 2 years ago about this for some special report. I can't remember where though, almost all the places selling beer failed, and some by more than 20% of the advertised amount, the problem was mainly with the amount of beer being given in the pitcher..

There was a report on the news a year or so ago that showed that all the measures of beer (500, 1700, 3000) are way off with the 3000 being closer to 2000mls than 3000. In Busan st Haeundae there is a beer are set up this year, and the 500 glasses were maked 450ml on the side. They were confused when i went back and ordered an "sa bek oh ship mekju" but when i explained why, the woman was poured a small amount into a second glass and apologised with a smile on her face.

It seems that "Oh Bek" is now just a name for the beer, just like "McEwens 60 shiiling beer doesn't cost 6o shillings, it's just a name.

I saw a TV investigative report saying basically the same thing. They should just get rid of the specific amounts and go to selling large and small pitchers.

The article above explains quite well. I have noticed recently pitchers are starting to state their correct measurements. yesterday i ordered a 3000cc and it had a 2500cc mark on it, actually above the beer level:(
