No, I havent been to Scandinavia.
So what? I stand by my comment.
If you believe its perfect there, why are you here instead? |
I left Korea for Sweden months ago actually, no complaints on my side except for the difficulty of finding housing over here. |

When are you going home? To South Africa? |

| You have obviously never been to any Nordic countries if you seriously believe that. |
I don't think any of us here are Scandinavian. I think we'd all consider our countries back home "developed" but in the case of the US, the UK, Ireland, and South Africa, and from the noise I'm hearing, Australia, they all at least have a gang and violent neighborhood problem, and in the case of the US and possibly SA you have the added thrill of bullet proof glass everywhere.
The point I'm trying to make is to point out the inherent bias' people have and their tendency to have, well difficulty, in taking in the full view. Either back home is developed and so is here or neither are developed. But calling one 3rd world in manners and civility because people spit, but having roving gangs of youths and bullet proof glass in your own "developed" country kind of comes across as a bit silly. |

| I was in Manila not so long ago (and have been there too many times), and have to say... I think the OP is wrong. Driving in Manila is just as bad, if not worse, than Seoul. And then you can add the nasty amounts of jeepney exhaust to it. I like their "Global" areas (Bennafacio and Makati), and think those beat out Gangnam and Apkgu here, but the "less than nice areas" are not paces I enjoyed walking around. |
I think you missed my point... It has to relate to GDP, economic mobility etc. to that of mannerism and how people behave. Yes, I agree that Manila traffic is chaos (So is Bangkok). But the whole idea was to bring about attention to how the "developed" Asian countries are to the developing Asian countries.
Now, Korea will attest to being developed but compared to other developed Asian countries (i.e. Japan, Singapore) Korea is definitely a developing country.
Develop does not just mean buildings and infrastructure but internationalism, interaction and behaviorism. And Korea (if we adjust income, GDP etc.) is at the bottom. |
Other Asian countries such as Japan, Singapore, and where else? This is a stupid argument. Aside from the two countries you already mentioned, only Taiwan ranks ahead of Korea in East/Southeat Asia. It may not be the most cosmopolitan place, but if you look at GDP, PPP, etc. Korea comes out near the top in all categories. |

What is Korea known for?
Mostly for Koreans hating their faces and of course plastic surgery. Oh, and Korean food being rubbish. That's about all. |

Right, largely development means economic development. |

| I think it's funny when people try to defend Korea by getting into discussions about "Developed" vs "Developing" countries. Those names actually mean something in economics and politics, they aren't moral opinions. You end up sounding like the Koreans who insist Jeju is tropical. |

In this case, the OP claimed that Korea was one of the poorer countries in Asia. This is a factually incorrect statement, as Korea is clearly one of the wealthiest countries in the region, and OP comes across as only having visited Singapore and Japan. |

IMO Op was saying Koreans are technologically advanced etc but are lacking charm. He said he liked Japan for politeness and Thailand for smiles. You know, charming qualities. But plenty of so called developed countries lack charm: Germany for instance. However, Germans themselves don't care. Koreans don't either. It's good to have them, but it's not the end of the world, is it? Think about how many ESL teachers down play the charm: dress in suit, smell nice, play games... instead harp on and on about pure teaching ability. |

It's really hard to tell what the OP intended to say given the fact that he can't write for shit. |
