I've seen plenty of younger people in it, but I live in the countryside. The real ridiculous thing isn't the clothing, it's the double walking sticks. One of the most popular hiking spots around my place is a very gradual inline that works its way up to the source of a major river. My one year old children can comfortably walk along this path, but you still see people walking down it with dual walking sticks. |

| In Jeollanamdo everyone wears hiking clothes. Young and old, male and female. And I'm not surpised either considering every second shop is a hiking/sports clothes place. |

Having never been to Arkansas I couldn't say. But like the guy said above, every Korean I talk to gives me the line "This is the real Korea. No western influence like Seoul". Nevermind that those shiny hiking pants look pretty "western" to me. |

Every Korean has western influence. The USA and U.N. saved south Korea from Japan and communism. North Korea is a communist state and communism was a dream of Marx which in turn means north Koreans are exposed to western ideals too. Another thing alot of the older Koreans have whiter skin and European features. The GI's had some fun when they were here.  |

First stop: the grassy incline by the river. Next stop: the top of Mt. Everest!
They are in training, don't you know?
Another thing about the hiking gear is it's pure fashion showoff status for the old folk. And apparently the mountains function as the ajumma/ajoshi singles bars for mixing it up later in life when the marriage gets stale. And what's more appealing than an old lady in hiking pants and a parka and ski poles?
That's pretty cool btw. Better than the US example of giving up exercise, getting fat and watching TV all day in old age. At least the ajummas are out to have some fun! |

Sometimes I daydream about being a gigolo in South Korea. I like to imagine me sexually pleasuring all the hot adjummas in Seoul's rich areas. They are so satisfied they pay me loads of money and give me lavish presents.

Yep, I used to know a Korean girl here whose friends took her to one of these places for her birthday. She said there were something like 40 guys to choose from and some variety too; a Portuguese guy, some other European dudes, some American guys, and obviously Korean dudes as well. From what I understood, it's largely a way for some of the guys who come over here to do modeling work to make a little extra on the side, since modeling supposedly doesn't pay that well by itself. |

I know a girl who works in the fashion magazine sector and a lot of the female reporters and editors go to Itaewon for extra-marital relations. I was shocked. Not once had she introduced me to these vixens. |
