Why all the blatant jealousy and hysteria about us Englishee profs?

You hagwon people are all bitter and twisted. I won't paint all hagwon-white-monkey-clowns as losers, but most are. You guys are what the Koreans refer to as LBH. Instead of whining like little girls, why don't you get off your rear ends, and strive to climb the esl ladder?

Begrudgery seems to be the Waygook way in Korea. I really pity you people, and I mean that in a nice way. It must be tough, having to be a performing white monkey, each and every day. You guys know deep down, that you sold your soul for a few bucks.

Not everyone is the same. I hated teaching adults. I can get my own dates. The money was the same as a hagwon gig. I liked teaching a HS, but Ive had some good hagwons, and the one now is very cool, so I work hard for them. Its like saying every foreigner wants to be in Itaewon. Id take Busan any day over Seoul, myself.

I think some people have made this hierarchy, some kind of ladder for people to climb here, and living in HBC and teaching a UNI is like the peak. Thats just weird. Who decided that?

Knowing what you like and what you want to get out of this crazy ride is much better.

for the op it does seem to be ma plus 2 or ba plus 4. thats what ive seen in most job ads. im hoping that is the case for rehiring as it would mean i keep my job.

Much ado over nothing smithington, scorpion and others. So friggin' what if some guys (or gals) play the university professor card? Its a pet peeve of mine as well actually. Just like it is when girls who do rock/rap videos call themselves 'models' or 'video model's and try to make you think they are the same as runway models.
People back home inflate their job status all the time. Look at resumes that HR departments get sometimes. Words like 'analyst'....'director'..etc. banded about and its no where close to what they did. Janitors saying they are 'Sanitation Engineers'. I don't make a fuss about it.

For the record, I am very reluctant to mention where I work at the bars. I know my place in the universe and I am fortunate. I have a great life. People gotta drag it out of me. Where do you work? I work south of the river. Because I know the enmity and the possibility of looking like I like the smell of my own excrement. The only time I've used it Is to make money for privates. I don't apologize for it if it gets me paid. I don't use it to get myself laid. I have enough game for that. Others don't. Their choice.

I have friends who use it at the bars or where ever. 80% of us teachers are a bit off anyway and so I am not surprised that LBHs with uni jobs use it to get girls or make themselves seem self important. Some may try and justify the title. You may disagree. All well and good. Let them live in their own little world. Many of us like to feel superior. Who the F cares. Certainly not enough for a series of posts from others that include happiness that fellow teachers may lose their jobs. I've seen other threads where people try and dissuade people from taking uni jobs for no valid reason. That's where it gets a little pathetic.

One rule I have for all of my students is to never call me teacher, professor, Doctor.... Mr......

They call me by my first name.

And thousands upon thousands of times when a student whom I do not know on a university campus wants to ask me a question or strike up a conversation and starts by saying "professor" I then introduce myself and tell them to call me by my first name. If a student asks me, "Are you a Professor here?" I say yes because that is the term for the job that I do (i.e., teach at the college/university level). Then I introduce myself and ask them to call me by my first name.

I have been in Korea for ages, and I have found that almost all of the native English speaking professors I have known also have this same rule/system.
