Is Bono Bono and Makina Chayo (?) still considered the best sushi buffets in Seoul?

Where are some good steak joints in Seoul?

Makino Chiya (sp?) is a great buffet... but not sure I'd go there for the sushi alone.

There's a new meat joint in Itaewon, next to Seoul Pub. Thought the steak was so so, but they had a combo meat platter that serves two that was quite good. Serious meat pig out for a reasonable price...

I've walked past this sushi restaurant a few times, near Euljiro station (line 2).

I've been to bono bono and makina and the sushi tasted the same quality wise to me. Makina has better non sushi choices though. Just wondering if there is another place. Been to Todai, place is nasty as hell.

My favorite sushi place is/was just a block outside of exit 12, gangnam station. Think it was called "Got-den Sushi" 갓덴스시

I believe D'Maris was started in Busan, and the second location was opened in Bucheon (I still remember the construction going on, and man did I ever gain a few pounds in the weeks after its grand opening!). There are now several locations, but the Bucheon joint is absolutely incredible. I recommend going during the week, or before 7pm to avoid the crowds.

I've been to the D'Maris in Busan and it's very good. They've got something for everyone.

Don't bother with the D'Maris in Ulsan. It's hit or miss, and when it's 'hit', it's mediocre at best.

JR Southern BBQ is absolutely CRAP. I tried it on two occasions. Based solely on the fact that they are marketed as a "Southern BBQ", I ordered the ribs... baby back and spare ribs. Both times, the ribs were still PINK inside... mind you... this is pork. I sent it back to be cooked again... still I had to literally chew off the meat off the bone. Fall off the bone? I could barely clean the stubborn meat off the bones. Overrated, shitty service, and terrible food.

Back to the OP. I've tried Makino due to what i heard on Daves... it's just OK, but overpriced IMO. I also wouldn't go there for the sushi alone. The only highlight were those marinated blue crabs that they had.

Best sushi buffet? The simple answer is that there really isn't one. I'd much rather spend the same money and eat fresh quality sushi straight from the fish market or just go to a "raw fish house".

As far as steakhouse? Butcher's cut or Isabella's steakhouse. Both carry dry-aged steaks done properly.

Hmm we didn't have that experience. But yeah, I'm not saying it is a high end nice place, nor is it anything close to some hole in the wall legit joint in the American South. But for KR thought it was okay, but then my expectations are low for this sort of thing. Wink

Maybe JR is still having problems because they are new, but when I went there last month, my ribs were under cooked, cold, and tough. Not tasty at all. And they didn't even have ketchup. What kinda of restaurant that serves French Fries doesn't also have ketchup? Ridiculous.

I just checked out the Facebook page. Looks like the prices are pretty reasonable. What are the portions sizes like for the platters and the sides?
