You can't waste your time applying to places like EPIK/GEPIK or even JET if you don't have "The Right Stuff" (whatever that may be for EPIK ). Find a good Hogwan to work at. |

You didn't tell the interviewer this, did you? This is the most egregious, unpardonable sin an EPIK teacher can commit. |

| No, I would never be so stupid to say something like that in an interview..I don't think that would be acceptable to say that in any interview actually, no matter what country you're interviewing in. |

Your problem is your picture. Even if you're not white and/or attractive try to work on appearing like you are in your application photo. Then you will easily be hired.
Obviously this isn't a just system, but looks are 95% of the hiring process in this country. Here's what they want:
1. Thin pretty white girl.
2. Thin white girl.
3. Handsome white man.
4. Fat/ugly white girl.
5. Non-white girl.
6. Fat or ugly white man.
7. "Old" white woman.
8. Handsome non-white man.
9. "Old" white man..
10. Ugly non white man.
1 to 4 you're going to have no problems whatsoever. 5 to 8 it's going to be really difficult to get a job but if you try hard enough maybe you can still get into the provinces. Forget about Seoul and Busan.
9 and 10....go to China maybe? |

| I consider myself to be a pretty decent looking white male. If you guys looked at my picture, I don't think you guys would say that my looks would be the problem. |

I would add height and weight to your number system. Most of the men working as teachers in Korea are 6 feet tall and over with light hair and blue eyes ( myself included). In my interview my height and weight was asked so they discriminate on those areas too. BTW I always get your so handsome remarks from people on the street and even from my boss. Korean women can get a little to friendly sometimes even ajummas |

| I'm 6.2, 198 pounds (90 kg, not fat, just a big guy I guess) and have brown hair and hazel eyes. This is my picture. I think I may look a bit too young though for my age because I'm 26. |

I think everyone gets those comments (as long as you're not fat.) I hear it all the time and I don't find myself to b a particularly handsome guy. |
