| Every weekend I've been going to Seoul so far except for this last weekend. This was an extremely boring weekend I didn't even see barely anyone out and about. The lack of people and things to do in a rural area really takes it toll on foreigners. On Facebook groups I've seen people in worse rural areas that can't take it and eventually midnight run. How do you deal with the cultural isolation and lack of things? |

| Why not take advantage of one of the random women you spoke Korean to/adult one to one students/co workers all apparantly queueing up to have sex with you? That'll pass the time. |

1. Soon it'll be ski-season, Dec 1st. You can go skiing.
2. Looks as though intellectual pursuits such as learning languages, musical instrument, degree by correspondence etc is not for you, might I suggest: hibernation?  |

| Buy a car and go fishing? I think your trips to Seoul (maybe try Busan) are a good idea. |

I don't want stds and I'm not the kind of person to bang anything with a hole. If your white and never got hit on by a Korean woman you must be really ugly. Still bored in rural Korea but don't have any stds. |

I think, for the most part, those who were introverted/anti-social back home are the only ones who can manage living in a rural Korea for any length of time(Although I'm sure there are exceptions). I live in a city of over a million and I can hardly stand it. If I can get a good job in Seoul when my contract is up, I'm there.
As for being so proud of not having an std....stop C-blocking yourself. I've lived a blessed life in that area of my life and have never contracted a STD. And even if I had...most are cleared with some antibiotics. Glad I didn't sit at home all this time only wishing I could have success with girls, but too paralyzed with fear of getting a venereal disease.
If you've got an attractive lady vying for your attention, go for it! It will certainly help you pass the time....not to mention open up a whole new world ( if she's Korean).

Ha, happens to me everywhere mate not just Korea. That's why I didn't feel the need to post about all my exciting new experiences of women actually showing an interest in me on Daves |

Make friends with some of the locals. There must me several single coworkers or single ladies around town. You can't simply sit over in the corner of the coffee shop, glancing over the top of your Huckleberry Finn book and hoping she is going to come over and introduce herself. Or keep twiddling your thumbs and thinking she is about to come over then eventually watching her walk out the door.

My last school in a city of 15000 in Chungnam was nothing like that. With easy access to Seoul on weekends, rural Korea is easy to deal with and even quite enjoyable with nicer teachers and children. |
