https://pledgie.com/campaigns/23591

Came to Korea in winter without a winter jacket? ... because she'd been travelling in the Outback (where it is summer right now, not winter ...)

A scam or else just an incredibly stupid person (given that she would seem to be a world traveller)

"getting below freezing without any insulation in the rooms" <- So the rooms have just metal walls?

"I do not want to be deported from this wonderful country" <- What is that supposed to mean? Doesn't want be sent on a ship to Canada or something? I don't understand.

The link is either too slow or it doesn't work. Haven't been able to access the site.

Also, why would you condemn a nation of people because of 1 person?

I condemned a whole nation of people? The subject line was to get Canadians to read her plea for help (as she claims to be Canadian), in case any truth might be behind it.

Maybe you need to work on your title writing so others can grasp what you are trying to say. Since the link didn't work for me and you only used 1 word, one is left with multiple possibilities in deciding which direction you are headed.

I donated some small cash to a couple of foriegners before and I checked the amount raised later on and the total barely went up. Foriegners here suck! I'll prob donate small amount soon. But, would 10 bucks kill you all?

Okay, fine, the subject line has been changed to something presumably clearer.

And the link is fine. You just have to wait (10 seconds, for me)

looks like a complete scam to me. she has a cleaning job where she gets one meal provided and a bed to sleep? seriously, who in Korea would give a foreigner a job like that? and if she does have a job it means she's working illegally, which would be grounds for deportation. then she claims she wants to get home, but says she doesn't want to be deported. well, if she was deported then she would get back home

Right, same thought here.

Only, providing someone with a bed and meal in compensation for some cleaning probably wouldn't count as "employment".

Still, like you said, she wants desperately to go back to Canada yet doesn't want to be deported?

And I suppose her passport mysteriously wasn't stolen...

It works for me now but this morning it didn't.

I was under the impression that one could apply for a temporary emergency passport and receive it in fairly short order.

For free?

Either way, the main reason I posted is that she is claiming the Canadian government has "abandoned" her.

Actually, there is no Canadian Embassy in Busan. Only a consulate office. So did she phone the embassy in Seoul? Why did she not visit the consulate office in Busan in person?

Why does she need 2,500 if she wants to go back home? I think a one-way ticket to America's hat is not even half that.

I assume it costs money, but to be fair, she's also asking for money. I'm not necessarily saying I disagree with you about the dubious nature of this scenario, just that this particular point isn't especially striking. In fact, it's almost the only part of her story that isn't at least a bit questionable.

After the e-begging blogger incident on this forum, I'm personally reluctant to take any such fund-raising page at face value.
