Anyone have any experience with Wonderland, especially the Chimsan branch in Daegu?
People don't seem too crazy about Wonderland in general, but usually nobody posts online about how great their jobs are, so all you see is negative.
Just looking for a little perspective. I'm looking at their contract, and it seems well enough. But then, it's just a contract. |

Your posting "just a contract" seems, to me, that you're buying into the malarkey that contracts in Korea are meaningless. That is not the case. The Labor Board and the courts will look at contracts, in addition to the applicable laws, to decide cases brought to them.
Anyway, you mentioned you've seen the contract. So, what does it say about:
- Working hours and what a teaching hour is defined as
- Vacation days
- NHI
- NPS
- Status of employment (Employee or IC)
- Housing
- Airfare
- Visa sponsorship
If you sign on with Wonderland, you deserve whatever happens to you. It's not like there's a paucity of information on that chain. |

I'm currently at my third hagwon. Hagwons in general have a bad reputation, but this is how I would rate my three:
First hagwon: A+. I worked there 13 months.
Second hagwon (Wonderland): F-. I pulled a midnight runner in my 8th month two days after a foreign co-worker pulled a midnight runner in his 7th month. The guy I replaced pulled a midnight runner after three days.
Current hagwon: A. I'm in my 17th month. |

Mostly, I'd say avoid wonderland. But, re-write the contract they send you to something more decent. Then, email it back with your signature. If they don't like it, move on. Define a teaching hour as 40 to 50 minutes at most. Define overtime, housing, etc. |
