Hi all. I just recently started becoming really interested in teaching in Korea.

I've read a lot of the posts here first so I thought I was doing good...

But, I recently registered w/ a recruiter. A day after, I get the standard "thanks for applying, etc.we'll contact you with jobs soon". And then not even a week after, the recruiter has set me up with a hagwon interview without the recruiter doing an interview with me first. Question
job's supposed to start in february.

Should I be scared of this? From what I've read here, its usually the recruiter who screens people first with a phone call. Or should I just consider myself lucky that i'm getting an interview in the first place when it seems that others are not even getting responses from recruiters Shocked Shocked Shocked

fyi: i'm not blonde hair/blue eyed. i also don't even have any documents on hand, besides passport.

I have never interviewed with a recruiter and I am on my third different hagwon. I have only called recruiters because they are lazy and never got back to me.

It is nothing to be scared about. Go with the flow. When everything happens the way you'd expect it to, you end up 'missing' the bus.

Get your documents in order ASAP!

Yes, it means there are monsters in the closet, you have cooties, and Wendy Testaburger will not kiss you behind the bleachers.

It's neither anything to worry about nor is it anything that's necessarily good or bad.

The recruiter's job is to find people to fill positions. A school says "Find me a person who fits the following criteria: a, b, and c." These may or may not require the recruiter to screen you first depending on what the school wants and how you look on paper. In this particular case, it has not been deemed necessary for the recruiter to speak with you first and instead you're speaking with someone from a school directly.

Thanks for everyone's input... Makes me feel a little bit more at ease. Go with the flow should be my new mantra Smile

As for the documents, I was told that CBC can now be done w/in days because of fbi channelers. Surprised I was expecting at least a month's wait. but i'll go with the flow Very Happy
