I have been here 17 years and have a 15 year old DAUGHTER .
I swear to god if any " teacher " laid his hands on my family , it
would be the last kid he ever touched .
I( or someone ) would get to him before his sentence . |

This is just total racism, man, another day in the life foreigners who are subject to Korea's Jim Crow culture.
The Koreans expect us to be "Uncle Tom Waygooks" who sing the praise about their culture, but who hold us to a double standard.
Just as there was one set of rules for whites in the South and another for blacks, there's one set of rules for the Koreans and one for waygooks.
I think I'm doing a midnight run...

No one is disputing that he broke the law.
The point that Koreans are treated differently from wayggoks is what is being discussed.
If you nonce a kid in the UK you get the same sentence as anyone else, in Korea it seems like being foreigner causes the crime to be seen as worse than if a Korean committed the crime.
Just look at how many Korean teachers that nonce kids and get let off.

You know this isn't true. A lot of factors play in to what kind of sentence you get. Severity of the crime, age of the victim, money, lawyers. |

I never understood the "over-protective" father thing. My cousins are like that too. Granted, I'm not a father of a daughter, but I wouldn't want my daughter to grow up to be lonely and childless. I'd want her to engage the opposite sex and produce grandchildren.
I don't know. It kind of gives me the creeps. Like do you really "love-love" your daughter? Are you jealous in a romantic way about other guys dating her? What's the thing, are you a father or a lover? It's weird. Something I would never say to my own family members. Maybe there's something to it and I just don't see it because I don't have a daughter. that's just my two cents. |

I think so. Canada has a law that allows its citizens to be tried in Canada for sex tourism abroad. And so does the UK...

Before I had my girl, I didn't really get it either. Like, intellectually I understood... but not wholly. I think there's certain things you just have to experience to understand.  |

Id be interested to know what happened to this girl. The article focuses on him, but gives no mention to the "victim".
Was she shamed into throwing herself from the roof, or otherwise forced to flee Korea? Did she undergo treatment? Did she brush it off and carry it around like a badge of honor? Will she face the man in a trial? etc etc |

Not sure what superior to the USA has to do with it...
But Canada recently passed this law. A 2013 case is pending involving someone who bought child sex in Cuba. Search the Toronto Star or Globe and Mail on that one. |

Not defending prostitution, but the double standards and obsession with anything sex really bothers me. Maybe we should just castrate everyone at birth and make babies in test tubes so the nanny state will just leave everyone alone. |
