Korean language is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. 
I'd bet my last pair of underpants, that I make more cash per month, than 99.99% of the people on this board.  |

Does anyone know about the kidnap and murder of a foreigner by an ajoshi on a boat?
I remember hearing this story way back in about 2006. Apparently in the 90's (or possibly earlier) a Korean man kept one or two foreign tourists hostage on his boat and ended up killing one of them. Blamed them for the IMF or something.
Anybody else heard this one? |

The IMF crisis was in 1997 if something like that happened, it would be after that. It's also high profile enough to be have absolutely been in the international news. A simple google should reveal the truth about it. |

Look just because you cant handle learning the language doesnt make it trash. As far as talking about money and the such, you sure like making the $h1t deep. Im going to have to get some pretty deep boots.  |

I would have though that after your last character, IPayInCash, was burnt out and banned that on your next run you would want to try something a little different. Maybe watch a few Coen bros movies to get some inspiration on something truly unique.
Here are a few ideas:
-You are a recently retired aerobics instructor who has come to Korea "for some reason", you often find yourself having to throw down on Korean gangsters, US GIs, Neckbeard eslers and Korean hipsters.
With this character really put emphasis on your phyisical prowess. 6'4, ripped, mma cage fighter. However, to try and differentiate from the IPIC and Jodami charaters don't focus on how well you do with the ladies. That will be implied.
- You are a upper level executive who has been brought into Korea by one of the big Chaebols to lead some product development. You pull in 7 figures (before bonuses) and also write guest columns for GQ on satorial advice. (This one needs a bit more work, maybe talk to Kimchininja becuase it is quite close to his character). Though not a gyopo, you have managed to master the language and the finer points of Korean culture and etiquette.
These are just two ideas. I hope you like them! Looking foward to your next comeback

I totally heard about this. The Korean captain of the boat also had a hook for one of his hands. |

Good suggestions cabeza. However, ultimately these characters would digress back to the only character he wants to be: the one who tries to make people upset because that is the only goal really. As a recovering troll myself (I had a stint in rehab), I know this to be true. It was a bit like the movie The Exorcist. When the group discussed my various adopted personalities, the group leader and former elite troll stopped them. "There is only one," he said. |

I suppose it is "a" way, but I'm not at all convinced it's the way. I arrived here at the same time as 3 other buds. We all stayed here 10 years +
Out of all of us, I studied Korean the least. And as a result, am the least proficient.
But I know my bank account would stand up very well to theirs. Much better, in fact.
Not bragging, but it's simple math. They had to take 1-2 years off of major work to attend Uni classes. Not only did they lose that income, but also had to pay tuition. So in the end, they were behind me financially.
Now, there's other factors involved in learning a language - but just looking at purely money here in Korea... really don't think it's needed. |
