I am after sending the wrong essay to the recruiter. I am speaking of the essay in response to the question " We are interested in your ability to succeed as an EFL teacher in a public school in Korea. In the space below, please share with us your reasons for wanting to teach EFL in Korea, your educational philosophy and your thoughts on encountering cultural differences".
The essay I used was an older one I wrote a few months ago. I did a big re-edit of the essay because the last draft was rushed (as it was for a job that was close by). I think there were a couple of grammar mistakes, the content was dated.
The part about 'encountering culture' was different. the older draft was about how I have alot of experience with multinationals. The more recent essay I wrote was about how someone should research the country they are going, to find out about the countries culture and customs, which I felt was much better.
I had been working my ass off on the most recent draft, I attached it to the application form, I saved it (or atleast I thaught I saved it. The strange thing, is I remember checking the draft before attaching the application to the email to see if it was the correct essay, and I remember thinking it was the correct draft. After checking my sent email again, I only found the older draft. I looked all of over my computer, and I couldn't find the new anywhere! absolute mind ++++!
Is it possible to resubmit the essay to them? Do you think the GOE will accept it? |

Sorry to hear about your troubles!
If you sent it directly to the MOE, you may have an issue as they a have a policy to reject incomplete and incorrectly completed apps. This policy might see them telling you you're out of luck.
If your going via a recruiter, they usually read the essay quickly before sending it out. call them to see if it was sent. you could then resubmit to them. if the writing is shocking, they may actually contact you for an edit.
i was hired in 2007 (SMOE) through a recruiter and then caught a misstep on an app (photo copy when original was needed) -- |

I think the copied essay from the blue eyed blond cutie or at least the one that was done by somebody else for her will seize the day in this case. This will be unfortunate for you.
I always liked Korea, but EPIK I don't like. You should try recruiters for non-EPIK schools at this point. Actually you should have done that anyway. If no success go spend a year teaching in Thailand, but be prepared for what its like there. |
