Hey....
Anyone know where a Walmart is in Seoul. I'm living in Itaewon...would love to find a Wallyworld - no matter how near or far - but accessible via subway. |

| There is a Wal-mart in Kangnam between Seoullung and Hanti stations. The best way would be to get off at Seoullung (on green line and Bundang line) and walk towards Hanti (Bundang line). You will see the Wal-mart on the right, about 1/2 block over on a street that crosses the one you're walking on. Good Luck! |

| i agree with CLG for once, skip walmart and go to COSCO. Walmart here is no better than E Mart or Lotte Mart. Don't bother. |

I'm piling on that assertion. If Walmart is close, sure, but Lotte Mart, Emart, and Carrefour have just as good prices. Despite the Walmart name, it doesn't carry a lot of the same products a western Walmart does. It doesn't seem to carry Western products you can't find elsewhere like root beer, pop tarts, or hot dog buns.
I have a Carrefour near me and, god bless the French, but I like that their labels and signs are in Korean and English. A Lotte Mart near me too also has decent prices but all the labels are in Korean, which makes it hard when you're looking for things like bleach or yeast and don't know Korean.
Walmart has generally been a failure in Korea. Ajummas have known for decades how to force retailers to shave pennies off the prices. There was already a lot of domestic competition like Emart and Lotte Mart. And Koreans tend to patronize the local home brew over the American upstart (eg Lotteria is the number #1 fast food restaurant in Korea, not McDonalds... the only nation on the face of the earth where McDonalds has not been able to muscle its way to #1). |

| The Walmart in Kangnam is horrible. The ones further out in the outskirts are much better. The one in Kangnam is constrained by the size of their building. They can't fit much into such a small place. |

Yes, 'the Walmart leaves alot to be desired here compared to those in the West'. But have you ever seen an espresso machine which also steams milk enabling it to make capuccino for 42,000 won. I doubt it; Koreans don't like espresso much. And this maker is made in Korea, it looks like. Thus it's so cheap. Having said this I don't condone the excessive consumption of caffeine so easily done in the form of espresso and being a threat to one's tranquility and the peace of mind of those you come in contact with (best to hole yourself away) |

| I actually prefer Lotte Mart, but I cannot find one in Kangnam. I really like the one in Cheonan. |

Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for the tips...I made my way to the one near Kangnam...and yes....it left a lot to be desired....I was ooh so excited to see the big yellow WALMART sign...but there really wasn't much to choose from. Although a few good finds such as (perkable coffee at a decent price), wine, ok groceries, etc)....but I was ultimately looking for some patio furniture...which I'm finding out is IMPOSSIBLE to find. We have a nice roof top patio and I'm dying to have some chillin' time up there.....If ANYONE has any suggestions...I'd be so grateful for some help in finding some.....a chair or whatever. Also...I hope I'm not offending anyone by saying this...but I didn't take much in the line of shoes b/c I'm pretty tiny myself and can wear small shoes....but I didn't expect...RIBBONS, BOWS, BUCKLES, PATTEN LEATHER etc.....oi!!! I hate em....hee hee...any suggestions would be great....
PS I'm having a BLAST!!!!! |

Check out the Lotte Mart at Jamshil Station. They seem to have just about everything. One tip though: Be aware that there is more than just one floor. I went there several times before I realized there was another 5 or 6 floors of stuff to choose from.
KangnamDragon: I'm not sure if they have plastic lawn furniture....but they might. I know they have cheap furniture at least. You would surely be able to find some chairs there that would suit your purpose. |

| The Sangbong Costco had a limited selection of lawn furniture last time we were there -- lounge chairs, hammock, etc. |

I thought everyone knew Walmart is evil.
Cheap, but evil.
