anybody ever really been down and out in a korean city?
5-8k - jimjilbang for the night, shower, ramen, free pc (and i know for a fact there are quality ones down in busan that offer this, you can even wake up to an ocean view)
3k - cheap food from family mart or kimbap shop
that's about it really, so you could do it off 8-11k a day if it was really that bad. That's about 300k a month. It wouldn't be easy and it would suck, but if you are using money you have begged off people I would hope you wouldn't insist on having a hotel and all those other amenities. |

If I couldn't teach here legally and had to subsit illegally on privates, it would suck. I'd just go back to Canada.
Tell her to get a recognized degree from Canada and then in 4 years she can come back. She'd have an advantage knowing the culture. Problem solved. |

Funny thing is, she doesnt need a degree from Canada. So long as she had done 10 years of Primary education there, if she entered a Korean university in a 4 year program she could get permission to teach English LEGALLY on the D2 student visa after only 2 years of the program (after her sophomore year)
If she had done that years ago instead of doing whatever she was doing, she could have graduated by now (and have a full blown E2 if she wanted it) or at least done the two years needed to get the permission to do E2 working under the student visa.
I dont want to judge too much, but I hope she wises up. Finding a man who can help take care of her would be a good place to start. I cant even imagine pimping my gf/fiance/wife out to beg old friends and strangers in PC rooms for money because she doesnt have it, and I couldnt provide it. |

No she couldn't. Not with a degree from Korea. She needs a degree from one of the 7 countries to qualify for an E2. There was a story a couple years back about a Canadian who did just that, and they wouldn't give him an E2, even though he studied English education, because it was from Korea. |

This person is Eunjeong, who has posted a lot on here in the past. Most recently:

For sale is a galaxy s4 phone. Basically new, I haven't used it yet. The colour is blue and the phone company is LGU Comes with everything pictured. Selling because I prefer the note 3.
Asking price is 350,000. Willing to negotiate.
Please email me at [email protected] if interested. I'm looking to get rid of it ASAP so serious inquiries only please.
Have a nice weekend. |
Obviously a scammer.
She sent me a private message on Waygook asking me directly to give her money after I responded to her post on that board! |

I am sorry, but you are mistaken. The info is in a post I made in the thread I linked on page one. Yes, foreigners who graduated from a Korean university, and did at least 10 years of primary education in a country that uses the language they plan to teach CAN get an E2 visa.
You can find this information in the file prompted to download on the immi site.
It used to be as you say, but this law changed about 2-3 years ago. I like to believe I was somewhat responsible for that because they was a guy here (had a motorcycle as a profile pic) who made a post some years ago that he had the ear of some ministry of justice people and was going to have a meeting and give some ideas from other foreigners about immi regs that we would like to see changed.
I suggested this (a native english speaker graduating from a Korean university should be allowed to teach on the E2, and sure enough..a year or so later, this provision was added |

This reeks of the same scam that some "Cacille" person was pulling here not that long ago. And some "Eunjeong" before that. It's become an annual thing at this point. There's so many suckers on the Internet, it's likely to never go away.
The Facebook page has since been taken down as well.
Edit: Oh, I guess this was about that Eunjeong. I thought we were talking about this lee.erika that popped up on that other forum begging for money. |
