|
|
Hello, I badly need a cellphone without an ARC. I've been going to every phone store possible but they keep turning me away in broken english saying that I need an alien registration card. I've tried everything I've looked on the KT Global stores but the closest one to me is Dongcheon which is north of Seoul. I live in Anseong which is right next to Pyeongtaek and if anyone has any tips I'd be more than grateful. Thanks |

You can rent one at the airport with your passport, but its quite expensive.
Also, iirc, many convenience stores in popular tourist areas will sell prepaid phones. I remember getting one for my Mom when she visited a few years ago at a 7-11 in Myeongdong. May need someone with Korean ability to help you set it up though. |

As you live near Pyeongtaek, maybe try around Songtan (Air Force Base Area). I'm sure that the stores around there will be able to help you out.
Good Luck |

I thought there was a KT Global Store in Itaewon? When i had KT, I went there all the time for help. They spoke great English and were very helpful. |

Acquire a second-hand device and sign up for a prepaid service with a carrier matching the device. Otherwise, you can't sign up for a regular plan under your own name.
Technically, the closest KT Global Store, geographically that is, should be in Hwaseong, southwest of Suwon. However, the complexity of getting there from Anseong by public transit negates any merit, since you can reach Seoul Nambu Terminal in 70 minutes or so, and by extension Gangnam in about an hour and a half. |
