Self defence laws in this country are really stupid. though I question why Koreans on the subway sat by and did nothing. Is it simply this law? I mean really, we ought to be allowed to boot our boot up grandpa's @$$ for being an idiot without the threat of blood money. Korea needs to update the concept of "self defence." |
How about slander laws? Is it that easy? Take a picture of an angry old man, say what he said without offering any proof and ruin his image and humiliate his family? You could pretty much do that to anybody if that's all it takes. |

I think it's the cultural thing. The man in the photo is dressed like a gangster. Koreans are conditioned to to 'mind their own business' when it comes to gangsters. I too would have mind my own business, as well. |

Korea has self defence laws. They don't have stand your ground laws or other ridiculous garbage like that.
What are you going to do when someone runs their mouth? You think any self defence laws will cover that? You going to punch him? Kick his teeth in? Big man white knight.

Bingo, that's why the main stream media censors faces.
If the people who run Korea bang are in Korea, maybe they need a visit from the police so they can get familiarized with local laws. |

In what way does this old fart look anything like a gangster? And while we are on the subject, what kind of gangster takes the train?
What a shite excuse. |

They "mind their own business' even when its obviously not a gangster though.
99% of people live in fear of blood money.

The entire police force needs to be airlifted to another country for a basic course in what effective policing and justice actually involves. And the legal system needs a complete overhaul. |

In most countries if you attack someone first you're going to get arrested. |

I can also confirm that in most countries if you verbally abuse someone first, you're going to get attacked.
Seriously, does any legal system on earth honestly expect a man to do nothing while some agressive stranger calls his wife a gangbang?
The way things currently stand simply creates an hideous antisocial atmosphere whereby anyone can get away with abusing and humiliating anyone else.
Most police forces in the world use their brains and penalize the person who instigated trouble. Most police forces in the world do not side with drunk, lying miscreants just because they happen to be older males. |

He just looks like an old asian guy in a suit that is upset about something. There is no indication at all that he is a gangster (no sorry but Asian Man in a suit does not = gangster), there is no evidence that he said what the girl is accusing him of saying. There is no reason she would physically assault somebody for saying what she accused him of saying either.
This is pretty sad and it sounds like some people are so ready to jump on the hate parade against old Korean men they will latch onto anything. How do you know she didn't spit on him and then snap his photo when he got angry about it? For the sake of your credibility please just stop. And even if this did happen, how is it news? I usually like Korea Bang, but of all the stories out there I have to wonder why they chose this pathetic excuse for an article.
Gangbang doesn't refer to rape either. Gangrape refers to rape. Gangbang refers to consensual sex between a group of men and one woman. Gangbang could also refer to gang members going out and doing gang stuff, like drinking 40's and making listening to their music too loud. |

Ah that's ok then.
So next time an aggressive old Korean drunk starts abusing your wife you'll just sit back, safe in the knowledge that he's only referring to consensual sex. I see. |

News for you: real gangsters don't look like they do in movies. Lose the macho act before you wake up in a hospital. |

If you had any experience with or knew any Korean 'gangsters', you'd know that in fact this guy does not dress like one. On the contrary, the black suit, white shirt-a-la-potbelly and black tie is the stereotypical adjossi gangster attire depicted in Korean movies. Watch one some time. |

Korean laws and cops have their faults, but sure beats back home where my old job featured the constant threat of armed robbery at gunpoint and the cops and courts were basically a shakedown racket that occasionally went insane and shot up some grandmother's house, or arrested a 6 year old for having a toy gun.
At the end of the day, the average citizen shouldn't fear cops. Back home I'm law abiding, but I'd still hesitate to involve the police in a dispute that I felt I was in the right in, simply because they might get it in their heads that I'm in the wrong and enter "Respect my authoritay" mode. |
