Can anyone PLEASE help with a link to a site that can remove vocals from a mp3 track? My friend and I have to perform at a school festival tomorrow in front of maybe 3,000 koreans Shocked Confused . If you can help, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks!!

There are a couple of programs that can do it (like Blaze Media Pro), but in my experience they don't do a good job. It's probably easier to download the music without vocals.

Don't think I can find it.

Karaoke files are often on the internet as .kar, .wav or midi but that one's a little obscure. There's an instrumental Jimmy James and Kazaa but I'm not sure if it's the right one and it's pretty slow on the download.

try to remove the vocals, it's not difficult but it's not 100% successful..

you are going to sing the song right? if you are going to sing it and the vocals are a little audible it shouldn't matter

good luck...

if my program works.. i want that night out too.. Razz

it's unlikely to be either simple or 100% succesful, unless you get lucky with the way the song is mixed in stereo (i.e. all vocals to one side, or vocals and vocals only in the middle- in which case have a search for "Phase cancellation").
In general though it's a bit like trying to get the salt out of your dinner.

Best case scenario: Try to find the song on Kazaa in mid or kar format and record the song onto an audio CD.

Bad case scenario: If the song has the vocals panned to one side, you can eliminate the channel. Some programs such as Cool Edit Pro or Sound Forge might let you mix the stereo channels together in such a way that the vocal channels cancel each other out in their phasing, but this often gives the track a 'whooshy' sound.

Worst case scenario: Use the EQ to cut the vocal frequencies of the track as much as possible. Male vocals usually sit around the 500 hz to 1 khz range. It won't be perfect, but you can minimize the vocals in the song.

Good luck. This is not easy to do even for pro studios. Usually they have access to master multichannel tapes, and can just mix out the vocal channels.
