I was curious, if while teaching there, anyone took Korean lessons in there free time?
If you have i was wondering how much it was, and was it just at your local College or elsewhere?

| I studied at Ehwa, Yonsei, and Sogang. Of the three, I'd recommend Sogang first. I can't remember how much tuition was, but it wasn't cheap. |

| 1.6 million for ten weeks, right? What uni is this? Yonsei? (That is their fee.) I went there before. Loads of grammar and writing assignments. |

| The standard rate to study Korean at a Uni Language school is about 1.6million. Totally not worth it unless you're a complete beginner. The first couple levels are needed, but after that you should be able to learn it on your own. |

Me too, when there are tons of books everywhere. I just used Korean English books, and then I spoke and spoke and spoke.
It worked out pretty well. |

I suppose It would be.a waste of money for you to try to learn anything? Either that or your wife controls the purse strings?

OP, When I first started, I used a language exchange (group and one to one - one to one was better).
Start with learning some key phrases/q and a etc. that would be used in a travel situation - just write them down in english and Korean and memorise them.
At the same time work on learning to read Hangul. Y should be t and about trying to read things too, this will help (start with menus, 'motel', 'singing room' and things that are written in 'english and konglish' together on signs for example Lotteria etc.).
You may find that once you can order food/take a taxi/get around/know the numbers, you dont need anymore.
Once you get the basics and decide you want to go further, there are plenty of books and internet sites etc. that will get you going further. |

The standard is university Korean course is 1.6million for a 10 week course, 4 hours a day.
A number of universities offer that, including Yonsei. Yonsei also has a 7 week, 6 hours/day (previously 6 week, 7 hrs/day) course as well. It's a university entrance track program (majority of the students are 18-20 year old Chinese and gyopo kids) but anyone can take it.
You can find various short (2 weeks+) programs available in the summer also.
A lot of towns/cities have free classes by the city or volunteers, it's just a matter of digging it up. |

You can get Pimsleur Korean I & II for $240 US. Also there is Rosetta Stone Korean I, II, & III for $400 U.S. which adds a lot of additional Korean to the basic structures you get in Pimsleur. Personally I would rather invest in those than shell out $1600 US for a 10 week university course, outrageous! |

That's a lot more reasonable. I do wonder about the amount of Korean you get in a 10 week course compared to the amount you would get from Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone? |

It is advertised as such, but with breaks: 10 minutes, 20 minutes, and 10 minutes, it is really only 3 hours and 20 minutes per day (of actual class time). Also, there is no school during national holidays. Keep that in mind when calculating the cost. |
